Vatican Police Arrest Pope's Butler

The Vatican police have arrested the Pope's butler! What did he do? Did he molest boys? Did he misappropriate funds from the Vatican bank? Why, no, he leaked documents of Vatican financial shenanigans to the media.

I'm sorry, Catholics, but you people need to rebel against the utterly corrupt and morally bankrupt leadership of your Church, who's moral code is more like the Mafia (Break any law, just don't rat out the family) than a religious institution.

Then again, it is the Church's money given freely by the parishioners with no strings attached, and The Vatican is basically a dictatorship, so parishioners have little to complain about when The Vatican's money is used for whatever they want.

It is the Catholics who must do this. I'm not in their church, and I'm not criticizing them for being Catholic, but I am criticizing them for sitting by passively while their leadership exhibits such continual ongoing corruption.

Look at what's happened just this week: The head of the Vatican Bank was forced to resign under a cloud of controversy (RESIGN), and the whistle-blower was arrested (ARRESTED) by the Pope's personal police. And the article said this whistle-blower might do 20 years in jail.

How many child molesters were arrested by the Vatican police? Zero! These officials cover up child rape and embezzlement and arrest for exposing corruption. Obviously, the leadership of the Church is morally bankrupt. In my opinion, Catholicism itself is morally bankrupt, as well because if the followers accept this of their leadership, then the followers are morally bankrupt as well.

No need to take sides on this financial matter involving a foreign entity. Good news for the butler is, he was only arrested. If a White House staffer behaved in the same manner, he/she would have been deep-sixed.

You are supposed to be a man of 'religion', what gives you the right to pass judgement on an entire group of people? You are classifying and pre-judging them. We've seen this type of behavior before in the past....

Your response is utterly ridiculous. But in your defense, I think you know that you're being utterly stupid for the purpose of making an argument, but it's a stupid argument.

First, you're arguing that there's no such thing as wrong, and second, you're arguing that I'm classifying people, yet I'm merely classifying them based upon how they choose to classify themselves. A person either joins and follows the Roman Carholic Church, or does not. It's a choice, and they self-designate their membership in this organization.

As for my passage of judgement, what judgement have I passed? That men who molest boys should be arrested? That's not a moral judgement, it's a statement of fact. The fact that the Church has impeded such investigations and withheld evidence in these cases is a statement of fact and certainly, unless you approve of molesting children, is a statement of base moral failure. By the same token, theft is also a basic moral failure, but exposing a crime is not a moral failure, it is a moral strength. So the Church leadership lacks moral character. And this, sadly, is a statement of fact.

there are bad apples in every bunch. this does not implicate all members of the church, especially within a few days of a questionable arrest. besides, plenty of catholics [wikipedia.org] are against molestation.

i have some bad news for you. Child molestation is not limited to the Roman Catholic Church. Doctors, lawyers, bums, gays, straights, whites, blacks, latinos, etc. etc. Catholics would prefer to not throw the baby out with the bath water (as some here would suggest).

It is not news to me that child molestation isn't limited to the Catholic Church.

However, if a Doctor is discovered to be a pervert, the AMA (or whoever, this is just an example) doesn't do their best to cover it up and move him on to another practice.

And this is while simultaneously claiming to be the moral authority that we should all live by.

I understand what you are saying. the lowly members of the catholic church would like to clean it up not destroy it. I understand that a lot of athiests will just use this as an excuse to get rid of the church instead of getting rid of the bad people in it.
