Same. Have bought every Madden since 2k's death. Traded in each and every one within 3 weeks tops.
Yes, 2k5 is way long in the tooth now but it was a watershed event in the history of sports gaming (and it was $20 too, which is just nutso). It showed that the current tech wasn't the limitation we'd been told it was by the software devs. As far as Im concerned, it changed sports gaming forever. Thats why to this day some people are still a little too attached to it. Memories.

As far as the basketball product, except for the hardest of the hardcore (or trolls) its outstanding. I buy ONE game a year on release no matter what. 2k basketball. It's so transcendent its TAUGHT me about bball and turned it from my 3rd fav sport to now tied for 1st (I love the NFL, even tho it treats me so so wrong)

Madden's slogan shouldn't be "It's in the game". I think a more appropriate motto for most is "It is what it is" (rightly and wrongly)

I would not be suprised if maddens' marketing dollars cost more then rehashing the game every year.
They even got a huge discount in the millions last year because of a possibiliy of a lockout happening.

2k5 > madden for a very long time.

It isnt 2k5 "fanboys" saying it.. its NFL gamers saying it and it is true.

We are all sick of zero improvement year to year with madden. Each year they pick 1 thing to sell to the masses. from faster matches? lol. to QB conehead view, to shockjock controls etc. All end up being worthless and are turned off in the options menu by the masses. Just a marketing ploy .
And it has the same bugs in it for at least the past 5 years.

I wouldnt mind a 9.99 updated roster dlc option to any madden version that we own. Because older maddens are better then the newer ones. But it would also allow everyone to play with whichever version they liked best with updated rosters.

59.99 for a roster update is ridiculous. at 44.99 we can buy it and sell it later when we find out it sucks again without much of a loss of investment.

madden 97 i think for PS1 was amazing with the full motion video of madden and summerall before the games. That was the best version of madden I can remember.
Instead of improving on things they scrap out ideas.
They bought ESPN rights a long time ago and we are just now slowly getting a little bit of ESPNness added to madden when they should have HDvideo footage of the whole espn crew talking football pregame,halftime,aftergame,along with the following your team throughout the season.
Instead we get crap animations of the people.
