Target stores are also selling it for 49.99. I bought one a few minutes ago, perhaps will help those who do not want to wait for Amazon to deliver.

Judging from the price, this player is on it's way out.

be careful, this player can not play Divx avi file which is the very common format on the internet now. I ended up returning it, a POC.

I did update to the latest firmware from Sony, but still no luck with "invalid file format" error.

I have 2 of the previous model SMP-N100 and I couldn't be happier with them. I've been able to stream divx, mpeg, xvid, mp4, and mkv without any issues. It easily networked to my home server and I haven't had any issues with either of the 2 in my house. I use one almost exclusively for Amazon On Demand Prime. Could be that kevint just got a dud.

There doesn't appear to be much of a difference between this model and the previous and $50 is a good price. I'd buy one if I already didn't have 2 of the previous model in my house.

Sony is selling Refurbs for $39.99 free ship [sony.com].

How LOW can they go?

(Note, oddly the free shipping is not showing up at checkout...plus you do pay tax.)

I agree to stay away. I have the N100 version and it sucks. I get invalid file errors regularly, sometimes plays sometimes not. Has issues with streaming 5.1 audio on an HD signal via HDMI or Optical. Also Sony Support is completely worthless. They had no clue how to troubleshoot this.

Come to think of it, I did have some file errors, but the files I were using were junk and wouldn't even play properly on my PC.

Never had to use h264level editor or anything. Everything worked right out of the box (except the junk files). Streams perfectly from WHS v1 and from W7. No issues from a thumb drive either.

You must have picked your 3 up when they were refurb for $35. lol
