I found the USB drive options through my TV and came to find through USB the television reads all MKVs and other formats except AVI's, and of course the quality is far better. To answer your question I tried both ethernet wired to router and wireless with no noticeable difference, either way the quality of the AVI's through DLNA were atrocious. I also found that even though USB works for MKV, for some of them it had trouble reading audio formats!?.. Just seems a bit sketch.

Any other tips that would help us who are struggling with these problems would be very much appreciated.

If your mkv files are DTS audio it will not play.

Amazon has matched this price. I would order from them but they charge tax in NY state. BB has also dropped their price to $649. I wonder if the price will drop any further.

Got this for my folks, I'm staying with them for a couple of weeks so I've been playing around with it. It's been a few years since I've paid any attention to TVs, and all I can say is "Wow!" Great image and love all the features!

What is the difference between WiFi- ready & built in WiFi??? Do you have to buy something separate to get connected. I have wireless at home already. Can you get netflix via the internet on this tv?

You have to buy a wifi adaptor (Panasonic TY-WL20U) which is $67 on Amazon.

Specifications says ethernet connection is present.

Yes it has a ethernet port for a wired connection, but for wifi you need an adapter.
