On any other console, only the gamertag that paid for the game/DLC can use it and that gamertag must be logged into Xbox Live. So for Minecraft, for example, I have console A and console B. I purchased and downloaded it to console A first. I redownloaded Minecraft to console B as well. On console A, anyone with any gamertag can play Minecraft, unrestricted (well, you can't play online without an Xbox Live Gold membership). On console B, only my gamertag profile can play Minecraft and only when my gamertag is logged into Xbox Live. But as long as I'm logged in and playing, I can have friends play as well on the same console/splitscreen. So if I wanted max value. I would play with my gamertag and be logged online on console B. And since you can have up to 4 gamers on a single console in Minecraft via splitscreen, that's me and 3 friends. My friends would then play on console A for 4 players there, for a total of 8 players in a game. That's 8 people playing for the single purchase of 1 game. Of course, you can't spread the 8 players across 8 consoles. It's still only 2 consoles at the same time. I bounce back and forth between my 2 consoles to play games. But my brother can only play with his gamertag on one of the consoles. I heard of a workaround for Minecraft that gamers figured out that gets around this DLC restriction but I don't know the details. |

My 10 and 12 year old kids have built amazing structures with the PC version of Minecraft, both local and online, and have also setup Hamachi <sp> servers with friends to host their own worlds. And they have engaged in this creativity and ingenuity without having to be spoon fed my MS or use Live, as much as MS loves getting folks hooked on Live - that is the real gold mine by the way. From your Xbox description, the main addition I see is the local split screen - that could be useful at times. Otherwise you get the negative of being tied to the Xbox, so each person must have an Xbox and Live accounts for multiplayer. Compare that to being able to use various PCs stationary and portable and the essentially free internet. The PC version/platform is demonstrably better and hopefully MS doesn't end up screwing it up for those users in their never ending quest to get more persons paying for their Live "service". Some deals I got thanks to SD:
$75.40 - 32gb (4 x 8gb) Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz RAM $107.05 - Intel i5-2500k CPU $54.05 - Kodak ZX5 Playsport video camera $105.66 - Intel I3 2100 CPU and MSI H61M-E33 motherboard combo $63.65 - AMD 840 Phenom II X4 CPU and MSI 880GM-E35 motherboard combo $88.95 - XBOX 360 Arcade 4gb console w/ 2 games |

local splitscreen doesn't require Xbox Live accounts. |

My two boys are addicted to playing Minecraft with their friends, also sometimes playing with wearing 3D glasses. I don't see these characters funny either. Here are two Minecraft videos he made with his friends, not funny in our adult eyes, just develop kid's creativity.
