it's more than digital legos. the videos you see are the end result of what people make.

but it's the grinding that keeps people in it. all the mining and item collection. seriously, you spend more time watching stone crumble as you hammer it than anything else.

you spend hours mining for material. and then the payoff happens where you start to build the thing that you imagined. it gets really addicting.

and then you hear the monsters and it sends a chill up your spine. seriously, I haven't been scared of the dark in any game like this game (or Dead Space). when the sun starts to set, you have to run for your structures or underground mines for protection.

the cool thing about the Xbox version is the online multiplayer and the splitscreen options. it makes it feel like you and your friends are building a society in this world that was custom generated for you.

some of the randomly generated worlds look beautiful. You build a house on top of a mountain on an island and get a 360 view of the oceans and other islands. You build subway systems to connect the islands. You build bridges to connect the islands. Really a ton to do, and it is a timesink like no other game besides MMO games.

I echo the comments of many others...I just don't know the appeal of this game.

My boys love this game. My High Schooler just got a 98 on his Earth Science final. He said a lot of what was on the test he knew from Minecraft. Nuff said. Bought xbox version for him and his brother.

Really? Learning Earth Science from Minecraft?

That sounds like an interesting concept but I just can't get over the graphics (or lack of). I watched a video on youtube and it looked worse than nintendo games. It's like watching a black and white movie on a tube tv. I can't do it.

Question, can someone playing this game on the XBox play with their friends who only has the PC version?

Will they be able to access their saved history/profile on the PC version or will they need to start from scratch?

My sons loves this game and plays the PC version with their friends online, so I might get thsi for them if they can still play with their online PC friends . Thanks in advance!

yes, the developers said that, eventually, there will be PC/Xbox crossplatform play.

it's not in right now though. so if that's what you want now, you should wait.
