Need Help Streaming Cable to 3 TV's
Hi Everyone,So here is the situation. I have an HDHomerun Prime and have one free tuner left that I want to stream subscription cable in my future basement. I want to create a sports bar-like atmosphere and have all of the TV's stream the exact same picture. Here is the problem. I am only planning to have one computer, and I plan to keep it hidden away. The three TV's I have are pretty far from the computer, so much so that I would not be able to connect the computer to them directly. I cannot afford to break down walls to install video wiring. I have attached a picture of what my basement will look like and what I have available around the TV. My plan is to use 1 Xbox as an extender to the TV that only has a power outlet (TV 3). From there, I was hoping that I could use some magic and somehow be able to use the coax cables near the other TV's to stream the same channels. I am not even sure if that’s possible but hopefully someone can tell me. My other plan is to use an HDMI Powerline adapter (but it seems to have bad reviews). I don't know if I could use 3 of them like an ethernet power line adapter, but if I can then here is my plan. My video card will either have 2 separate HDMI outputs set to duplicate OR 1 HDMI out going into a splitter. From there, they will be connected to their respective HDMI Powerline adapters and go to their TV's. If I can only use 2 of the adapters, then I will see if an ethernet/hdmi adapter thing could be used for TV1. I still plan to use an Xbox for TV3. My final plan is to invent invisible cables. Any help would be appreciated! |

Will the basement have drop ceilings? That would probably be the easiest way to hide cables.
I would think it would be cheaper and more reliable to have wiring installed than to buy the extra hardware for HDMI over powerline. Maybe you could put together some mini Linux boxes that could be hidden behind the TV to run VLC to stream from the same tuner wirelessly. This talks about simultaneous streaming to multiple TVs: http://www.silicondust Last edited by dhc014; 05-30-2012 at 02:33 PM.. |
