If I could find that these are made in Japan, I would jump on it or at least any review on it but there doesn't seem to be any. Don't need a jump drive but at this price, it's extremely tempting.

I got something physically identical to this (but without the 7dayshop branding on it) for Christmas. As one reviewer observed, it wouldn't work under Linux, which was also important to me. Before anyone thinks "that's Linux for you" I should say that this sort of pen drive is fully supported under Linux, generally better than Windows, I found that it does work in Windows, however! A Google Search of the vendor ID (not easy to find in Windows but in Linux you can find it even for things that don't work, in this case it was 0011 and the actual item ID is 7788) found a couple of Linux threads with the same information, someone suggesting that it's a fake.

Booting into WindowsXP I downloaded a free program called H2testw and ran the test, warning it takes forever to run - an overnight job and then some. Without getting too technical, it told me that it's a 7.5Gb drive (typical formatted space on an 8Gb drive) with a controller chip that has been altered to report 32Gb back to the system. This would certainly be consistent with the reviews here, most people putting a little bit of data on it and thinking wow this is cheap for 32Gb, others saying data is lost or corrupted, which is because they've written more than 7.5Gb to it, or some of that area has been lost to fragmentation.

If you have one of these and are using Windows, I suggest that you partition it for a single 7Gb partition and leave the rest unused - this should prevent loss of data.

That said, I'm not saying that this is the case for these drives as I don't know where mine came from. But looking at some of the other reviews, there is a strong possibility! Or that some fakes have got mixed in with the genuine ones. I'm already thinking that in future any such drive I get will be left overnight running H2testw to check on whether it's genuine.

This looks to be the same drive, just sprayed with another name. Looks like there are some complaints about them breaking.

I'm hoping this isn't the case, but I wouldn't be surprised.

worth the risk to me, just return it if defective. I can live with a slow drive as long as it does 720p.
