YES it's overkill!!!!!!
The C-50 processor in that is SLOW!!!! Also you only have 2GB of ram
you will see improvement in speed over the 5400rpm hard drive but the cpu/ram will be the bottleneck of the system.

I have an ssd for windows but Bf3 is on my 2tb WD green and I am usually one of the first in. (HD 7950 @ 1200 settings at high with some at ultra at 2560x1600 + 2500k at 4.8) You have some other problems. I am on FIOS BTW so maybe it's not even HD related.
