These issues only with Mac?
I have a alienware 17xr4 on the way and looking to put this in.

There are just 4 Phillips head screws attaching the case to the PCB, though one of the screws is covered by a sticker that says "warranty void if removed"

There are ways to safely remove those types of stickers. The usual recommendation is to heat up the sticker with a hair dryer until the glue is softened. Then use an x-acto or razor blade to start peeling it back at the edge.

Though once the sticker is off, you'll have to store it somewhere. I'd restick it to something metal, maybe anodized aluminum. Something that will keep the glue from drying out, but won't be difficult to remove and re-apply to the case if you ever need to send it in for warranty replacement.

What is the point of removing the cover?
