Get Deal

Thread Details

The thread over at xda-developers has been deleted by the admins, I will re-post it here, great deal.

The deal is supposed to be for those buying the Galaxy S3, but it can work on any android phone.

Wipe data from dropbox using Titanium backup, after wipe, uninstall.

Download the GS3 dropbox recovery zip installation file here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?sbcbo8kmldmanwd

Install the .zip file through custom recovery, used by those with custom roms.

Login to drop box, voila, 48GB is available immediately.

The original thread was below and also offered a way to install via ADB, but I don't have those instructions.

Thank you crackspider for noting a Root Explorer method which does not require a custom CWM.

here the instruccions my way

1. download http://www.mediafire.com/?sbcbo8kmldmanwd
2. download root explorer the pay one or just google it (root explorer apk)
3.add this files ;
system/app/Dropbox.apk
system/app/DropboxOOBE.apk
and;
system/framework/com.dropboxpartner.jar (just use copy and paste on root explorer)
4.system/framework/com.dropboxpartner.jar (hold ..scrow down ..click on permissions ...be sure in the top is MOUNT R/O)
5. (OWNER/Read/Write)........(GROUP/Read).......(OTHERS/Read)
6.reboot ur phone
7.system/app/Dropbox.apk and install
8.log in
9.wait a minute and u get the email getting 48gb
10..enjoy

Some people have noted you need to logon to the web portal after installation to claim the 48GB. Everyone is getting it if you follow the steps right, some it is taking 5-10 minutes however.

Well then just a PSA, be sure to change your dropbox password after entering it into a randomly flashed file downloaded from mediafire.
Great idea! Didn't think of that one. It wouldn't be a bad idea to uninstall the hacked version once you get it working and re-install from google play. I didn't read anyone noticing any malicious code, but it is always quite possible.

This has little chance of being abused on SlickDeals because this is too much work to root and install a custom recovery.
But there is a way to install it on a rooted device without flashing the zip but it would require reading skills and being able to follow directions fat chance of that happening.

There is an ADB installation method, and I believe you CAN install custom CWM recovery even if you are only ROOTED(read: No unlocked bootloader)

If you can pull up an archive website of the xda thread it shows the ADB installation method, but I don't have a windows PC so I try to shy away from ADB and Fastboot methods.

I just flashed this and it worked for me. It only took a minute or so because I'm already rooted on my Rezound.

This comment doesn't belong here, lol.

I don't want anyone to go out and install CWM if they don't know what they are doing.

CWM is not an ICS thing, it is a custom recovery image, so if you bricked you did not do enough research. CWM is a program utilized to INSTALL ICS, it does not have an ICS specific version.

Don't worry guys, the file linked above does not "brick" the device if you already have CWM installed.

Is there anything else you need to do to get the extra space? I logged in, but when I checked my space, there was nothing extra.

You can use other recoveries to flash this I used TWRP on my Kindle Fire and it flashed fine.
