Thread Details

The thread over at xda-developers has been deleted by the admins, I will re-post it here, great deal.

The deal is supposed to be for those buying the Galaxy S3, but it can work on any android phone.

Wipe data from dropbox using Titanium backup, after wipe, uninstall.

Download the GS3 dropbox recovery zip installation file here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?sbcbo8kmldmanwd

Install the .zip file through custom recovery, used by those with custom roms.

Login to drop box, voila, 48GB is available immediately.

The original thread was below and also offered a way to install via ADB, but I don't have those instructions.

Thank you crackspider for noting a Root Explorer method which does not require a custom CWM.

here the instruccions my way

1. download http://www.mediafire.com/?sbcbo8kmldmanwd
2. download root explorer the pay one or just google it (root explorer apk)
3.add this files ;
system/app/Dropbox.apk
system/app/DropboxOOBE.apk
and;
system/framework/com.dropboxpartner.jar (just use copy and paste on root explorer)
4.system/framework/com.dropboxpartner.jar (hold ..scrow down ..click on permissions ...be sure in the top is MOUNT R/O)
5. (OWNER/Read/Write)........(GROUP/Read).......(OTHERS/Read)
6.reboot ur phone
7.system/app/Dropbox.apk and install
8.log in
9.wait a minute and u get the email getting 48gb
10..enjoy

Some people have noted you need to logon to the web portal after installation to claim the 48GB. Everyone is getting it if you follow the steps right, some it is taking 5-10 minutes however.

Same thing happened with the One X. You will get it for a week, then dropbox will catch on and you will lose it.

Sorry sorry, I should have made it clear that I flashed the zip from Clockwork Recovery. Smilie

I'll be waiting for the email.
You did one of three things.

Forgot to wipe data first in titanium backup
Forgot to uninstall dropbox after wiping
Did not login to dropbox after installing new apk via recovery

See post above.

Also, some people are noting it is taking 5-10 minutes to get the email about the free space. I got mine right away. Not sure why.

I emailed dropbox with a link to this thread and got an email back from them and they gave my 50GB of free space for life for snitching you all out.

Right. So keep that in mind you guys. However, the reason they took it away last time was because people (like me) were using the APK before the actual HTC One series devices were actually even...launched.

So yeah, it was easy to revoke the free storage to people that clearly didn't have a HTC One X or One S.

Not so sure how they're going to do this this round..I guess since the SGS3 hasn't launched on US shores yet, so..hmm.

True true. There are always unlocked versions however. I don't think they will revoke this, but time will tell.

If you already have CWM or root explorer like I do, it only takes about a minute. Worth a try.

...what promotions have you done to bump you up to 80gb+? I've maxed out all my referrals and did the camera thing--sitting at 24gb. Adding this would bring me to 72gb, so apparently I've missed an entire 10gb somewhere?

I went to my school's computer lab and made around 20 new dropbox accounts and installed it on 20 different computers for referrals. Then I made my friends install it through me. I also did dropquest. I also used the HTC One S apk. IDK where I put the apk but if I find it again, I will post it up. Other than that, I used the 5gb camera upload apk/promotion from dropbox. I think it's still active. Just search SD for dropbox and you should see it in the first few links. Cheers!

Only 3GB max now, 5GB was beta only, and the 3GB only applies to photos synced by Android(Maybe iphone?), and they have to remain in the sync folder, but once you get to 3GB you can delete them and not lose the space, if I am not mistaken.

Good luck for those who try. Not knocking anyone who does it, but it sounds like an exploit that is terms for getting your account banned.
