This is using a Sandisk MicroMate USB 2.0 SD card reader.

This card and most others of its ilk seem to have write speeds in the 16 MB/sec range. The SanDisk Extremes write at about 45 MB/sec, IIRC. Why is there such a huge gap between the SanDisks and all the other class 10 cards? Does SanDisk have some kind of magical memory cells they put in their cards? Is there any sort of middle ground in between the run-of-the-mill class 10 cards and the Extremes?
