Is this laptop worth $125??

Never but outdated products and technology. Put some more bucks in, you can easily get an entry level tablet or a netbook. Which will be more powerful than this PC.

Correct ...the 1525 suits my needs but having to use Vista all these years is like torture, absolute worst. Just not comfortable installing a new OS on it. Will def. check for some good deals.

If there is nothing you need on the laptop, or you just copy all the files you need to a usb stick then you can always upgrade to win 7/8. To be honest its not hard at all to install an os, you boot in the cd reboot the pc and hit the anykey on the keyboard.

why not buy new for 300

you need to learn to Google: oem windows 7 activation
all you need is a inspiron 1525 bios with slic 2.1 integrated and a windows 7 msdn disc, and a oem dell win 7 key

everything is out there up for grab

You can use it offline still, at least most of it, though you are right there still needs a lot more work done there.

afaik it's in "read-only" mode, meaning you can't even write an e-mail and save it for sending later (once you have a connection)

He's talking about the Chromebooks that Matrix linked to, and those machines are designed to work online all the time, and yes, the OS is also called Chrome.

I know a lot of input has been put about to buy another laptop. Another thing to consider if you still want the laptop is maybe offer a lower amount ($100 bucks for example). It is always good to have a back up as a laptop you never know when your primary computer can go down. I have considered buying a netbook, but the only thing that stops me is what if my regular use computer never gives me problems? Say I bought a netbook for $250 and is just dusting because I havent really needed the back up seems like a waste to me. Its up to you OP though you know best.

Yes its worth $125... probably would be fine as a backup laptop. For Internet email.

People always get caught up in stats.... if all you have is $125 this laptop is a good deal and would likely do the job.
