What is this streaming on all these linux systems? Why can't they (android, ps3, bIOs) simply open a file from a network drive like a cheap $200 Aspire One does with no problems? Why do they need a resource hog, slow, "media server" on the other end running for them to "open" a file?
I just tried this with my state of the art slink dlna drive, iPad 2 and excellent router and it stutters playing even small videos I have taken with my old digital camera nevermind mkv files, I won't even try that. Plus there is no file system or folder structure so all my movie videos, personal videos etc are all mixed in a long list of maybe 10,000 files or more. Idiotic. And this is the best app by the way I have seen worse. God bless super powerhouse Windows 7. I appreciate you more and more every day, things you do with ease that we take for granted like copy and paste, incredibly fast switching between apps, multitasking, amazing networking since what 1995?, file browsing, simple small tasks that we use and never think twice that of they were not included we had to buy so many garbage apps and still can't get anything done. |

Ok after using it a bit I have to say:
1. Photo and music browsing simply says "failed". 2. Mkv files don't even attempt to start, the screen just flashes for a second. 3. Videos taken with my digital camera even old ones with my 3mp old camera don't play, they just show a bunch of skipping frames. Garbage Update: now it doesn't even browse anymore, it simply does nothing when I click on a media server or asks for a password that doesn't exist. Uodate: Aceplayer works much better with Samba option. No streaming, simply browse and open the file/movie. Stutters unwatchablly with mkv but at least it plays even 2.2GB mp4 movie files buttery smooth. Last edited by Brooklynite; 06-05-2012 at 12:59 AM.. |
