I needed a card for my GPS as the new maps are just too darned big for the internal memory. This should work perfectly for that. Plus I can get all the rest of the text to speech files and some other goodies for the GPS on there as well. If the cards aren't real, then I'll file a complaint with PayPal and eBay and get my money back and almost certainly not have to ship the cards back to Daily Steals. Either way I figure I come out ok.

First of all, does any card need to be shock- and waterproof? Why? I have a waterproof camera, but the water can't get to the card anyway, otherwise, the camera would be dead way before the card would be affected. Same theory goes with the shockproof - the camera would break way before the card would be affected.

Second, at 4 bucks with free shipping, how would they make money unless each card costs them less than a buck? Most likely a generic card.

Scam? Sure, why not. IDC. Its not like its another phony rebate. In 4 1.

Very good suggestion. I lost a couple hundred pictures that way, once. Now it's max 8GB cards for me (I actually like 4GB better because it forces me to switch more often). And I treat each card as you used to film negatives - I save them with originals on them, no reusing.

If possible I'd even try and take a small netbook or ipad with you and offload and upload pictures as you go. Plus it's nice to be able to share photos with friends back home as you go, instead of just when you get back.

I seem to remember a number of cameras being found (in the water) with memory cards intact after the Indonesian tsunami of 2004. Which would indicate there's a good chance "normal" SD cards do alright in the water, even salt water.

i guess it is like buying a scratch off lotto ticket, you know you will probably lose when you buy the ticket, and in the event you do win, it won't be for the jackpot but maybe some small trivial amount

that and people are hoping in the event they are selling knock offs, ebay protection/paypal will refund you

seriously guys, you get what you paid for. a couple bucks more gets you a legit card from a legit store. I can find links for genuine kingston on buy.com and bestbuy.com right now that are legit with free shipping (well, not sure if bb has free shipping but buy.com does).
