Round 11, Shoplift at Wally World and you DIE! 8-8-05 Wal Mart Houston, TX Suspect's Death In Wal-Mart Parking Lot Raises Questions 12-6-06 Wal Mart Fort Worth, TX Shoplifting Teen Flees, Hit by Car, Dies 11-12-08 Wal Mart Rohnert, CA Rohnert Park shoplift suspect dies in custody 6-7-08 Wal Mart Dallas, TX Off-duty Dallas officer shoots, kills shoplifter 12-22-09 Wal Mart Dunwoody, GA Wal-Mart Shoplifting Suspect Dies 6-28-09 Wal Mart Ridgeland, MI Shoplifting Suspect Shot By Ridgeland Police Dies 4-23-09 Wal Mart Ft. 2000 - 2012: 64 deaths involving shoplifters in some fashion, across the nation. Wally World being responsible or involved in fully 1/4 of them. Top 4 Retailers Wal Mart 18 K-Mart 6 CVS 4 Rite Aid 4 Today comes MORE news. [boston.com]Yet another Wally World happy shopper is killed by store security personnel. COVINA, Calif.—Police say a suspected shoplifter died at a Southern California Walmart store after a fight with store security workers who caught him in the parking lot. Covina police Lt. Holly Francisco says when police arrived Friday they found the suspect restrained by store security and appearing to need medical help. Officers called paramedics and the man was later pronounced dead at a hospital. Francisco says the suspect had been accused of stealing clothing and body wash. Wal-Mart Stores spokeswoman Dianna Gee says the security personnel have been suspended pending the outcome of an investigation that will include surveillance video and an autopsy to determine the cause of death. It is not clear why security did not call paramedics. Does there come a point in time where a corporation's right to simply execute shoplifters comes into question? It's no longer one of those deals that was a freak accident, it happens a LOT at Wally World & at least in part happens because of how Wally World instructs their personnel regarding shoplifters. |

I bet more people die from eating bad chicken bought from Wal Mart versus over zealous security personnel.
In a 12 year span 18 deaths happened? From what you listed, and what was listed in the link provided, most were caused by police, and the shoplifters themselves. 12-6-06 Wal Mart Fort Worth, TX Shoplifting Teen Flees, Hit by Car, Dies 11-12-08 Wal Mart Rohnert, CA Rohnert Park shoplift suspect dies in custody 6-7-08 Wal Mart Dallas, TX Off-duty Dallas officer shoots, kills shoplifter 6-28-09 Wal Mart Ridgeland, MI Shoplifting Suspect Shot By Ridgeland Police Dies I like you left this one out: 4-6-12 Wal Mart Austin, Texas Austin Police Officer shot by shoplifter This one was what prompted me to respond in the first place: 4-23-09 Wal Mart Ft. Smith, AR Man, caught shoplifting, Commits Suicide in Walmart (And who can blame him? After all the deaths of shoplifters at Wally World, he was a dead man waiting for the coroner anyway.) So really, shoplifting from Wal Mart doesnt seem like a death sentence. It looks as if your "statistics" might need a little more massaging to rally the troops against Wal Mart (or "Wally World" as you like to call them). Why do you dislike Wal Mart? Dirty stores? The way they treat their employees? They way they kill off the competition with their unbeatable prices? Wouldnt your real bias against Wal Mart be easier to display with more evidence than this? Oh and one last thing: "A trip to Wally World to do a little shoplifting is definitely not in the best interests of one's health" ^^ good. I dont understand why criminals should be treated well. "Oh hey look there is a guy stealing. Dont chase him, he may run out into the street and get hit by a car. In fact, lets not call the police because they may shoot him when he pulls a gun".
Kyle: Dude! I almost thought those Afghani kids talked you into not liking America.
Stan: No, dude. America may have some problems, but it's our home. Our team. And if you don't wanna root for your team, then you should get the hell out of the stadium. Kyle: Yeah. Stan: <salutes the American flag> Go America. Kyle: <salutes> Go America... Stan: Go Broncos Kyle: Yeah go Broncos. Cartman: Yeah... |

The next closest chain had 6 and no others had more than 4. Forget shoplifters, those were just handy stats. I thought this was interesting because of the previous incident down in Texas where Wally World personnel fried some sukker to death on a parking lot. Now this "mysterious" death at the hands of Wally Worlders. Why do I dislike Wally World? Why would anyone dislike a store that has been a HUGE factor in the off-shoring of American jobs, a HUGE part of the mounting trade imbalance with China, a HUGE part of wealth fleeing states to find it's way into the pocketbooks of the Arkansas 19 and deprive communities of the tax revenue Mom & Pops used to generate. I don't know, why DO I dislike Wally World? I wouldn't vouch for their chicken either.

But even if you had linked it, I bet it went something like:Bad guy steals WM security confronts Bad guy runs WM security chases Bad guy out of shape doesnt make it far, turns around and pulls a weapon WM security pulls a taser and zaps bad guy Bad guy has heart attack which would have happened eventually due to his many trips to McDs, but MAY have been expedited by the use of said taser. |

Hardly.
Here's a linky to the story, [huffingtonpost.com] and another one about an INNOCENT woman in China killed by Wally World security - she had a receipt and they STILL accosted her. There are 709 Wally World discount stores, 2,907 Wally World Supercenters, and 82 Wally World neighborhood markets in the U.S. The next highest killer, K-Mart, operates1,327 discount stores and 55 Super Centers in 49 states. They also operate Sears, which has 810 Full-line and more than 1,270 specialty stores in the U.S. Combined, Sears Holding operates 3,462 stores and has had 8 deaths associated with their properties. (2 at Sears.) Wally World operates 3,698, which is a pretty close match, but Wally World deaths are more than double those of Sears/K-mart. Last edited by Anonymouse; 06-05-2012 at 06:08 AM.. |

An article from 2009 which has a story about a woman being killed in China. The article also references the story you mentioned about a man "fried" which happened in 2005. Then also lists an indecent in 2008 where another shoplifter was killed (similar to the frying one?) in a parking lot. All of these situations should NOT have happened. But are you really trying to say that its Wal Marts policy to have their security "take any means necessary" to stop shop lifting? Where are the reports of the actual statistics of people who are not chased or stopped or who get away? Are these 3 cases (or the 18 in 12 years) really indicative of the policy that Wal Mart has? Also the article lists a part of the Wal Mart policy:
Another interesting part about the article is the author:

If you just take the K-mart numbers and compare them to Wal Mart you get 0.0043 deaths per store vs. 0.0048. What those numbers mean? Bah I dont know. But they look close dont they? I bet I could massage my numbers even more if I used the number of customers that visit each store against the number of deaths |

Rumble, young man, rumble. These are interesting times we live in. Punctuation is key. Fruit is nature's candy.

Is there something news worth here? "Simply execute shoplifters"? LOL
This is my favorite. 12-6-06 Wal Mart Fort Worth, TX Shoplifting Teen Flees, Hit by Car, Dies How the F is it WalMart's fault that someone gets hit by a car outside of their store and dies :roflmao: You missed the one on 12-7-08 where a man shop lifted from WalMart, drove home, and was then shot by his wife because she found out he was cheating on her. Clearly WalMart is at fauly there! |
