Straight from the monthly coupon book. I'm guessing its this [championpowerequipment.com] one but can't be positive.

7000 running/9000 starting watts
Remote control electric start
Never flat wheels
Battery and oil included

It was $699.99 but now $599.99 (plus tax) from 6/14 through 7/8 according to the new coupon book. I figured I'd throw this out for anyone looking for a generator, seemed like a decent price. I picked one up a while back for $699.99 after the storms last year knocked out power for 5 days. Watch out though, it is pretty loud. I'm going to either get an enclosure for it or just use it and let the neighbors come over. I was in a NJ store last weekend and they had several but I would call for availability, item number is 562296. I had a tough time finding info but I know the Champions seem well rated on Amazon.

LOL - hopefully I never need to crank it up. Last year was messed up, we never really realize how much we depend on "modern conveniences" after five days with power out.

I paid more (a LOT more) for the Ridgid 8000/10000W from HD. What kills me is the fact that it has a name brand engine (Subaru) but DOESNT have autochoke like this much cheaper Champion. Go figure!

If I hadnt bought the Ridgid already, Id be buying this one in a heartbeat. Luckily we had good weather after "hurricane" Irene so I wasnt starting the Ridgid (from the unit, since I need to manually choke it) in bad weather.

I really wish Costco would put the CPE 2000 Watt inverter/generator on sale. Rather pick that one up instead.

I have the baby Champion and love it. Haven't had to use it yet, but have done some testing. It operates my new and finicky high-efficiency furnace, which is HUUUUUGEEEE for winter power failures. 1-2 runs through your fridges and freezers will pay for one of these. Being able to watch TV or movies, or compute, when none of your neighbors can, is bonus!

The CPE 2000 is discontinued in my area Costcos. They were down to the display model @ $440 when I was in there this past weekend.

Do you know if they have permanently discontinued it? I was thinking of buying the display model when I saw it a month back or so, but thought about buying 2 to stack them for more power so was hoping for a sale.

Maybe I have to keep an eye on Walmart or sams club for the same item, but with the diff name.

Just didn't really want the super loud generator since houses here are so close together and I would not use it as much probably if it was really loud.

Thanks.

The CPE 2000 has the "*" asterisk after the price, which denotes a discontinued item. I have no idea if they will show up again at Costco in the future though. They've been like that for quite a while here in Florida.

I haven't seen any of these in Sam's for several months now, they're long gone. Apparently, they were blowing them out at $299 towards the end. There is a big thread at RV.net about it.

My recommendation would be to keep a look out on Craigslist for a used Honda EU2000. If you're not in a rush, some really good deals can be had there. I've scored some great deals on EU2000s and an EU3000 too. The Hondas are a superior piece of equipment in all regards.

$599 in store according to the coupon. Not .com.

Edited to add reference to actual coupon book. Page 5 [adamcos.com]
