Amazon has the blue Fisher-Price iXL 6-in-1 Learning System for $29.94 and Free Super Saver Shipping. I was looking for new games and I just happen to notice it. That is a great price on a great learning system that my 3 yr old loves.

They also have games on sale. But try a torrent search first.

Personally my 3 year just uses my rooted nook color with CM7 on it. Pretty sturdy, and there are tons of free android apps including Zoodles.

Yes that would be nicer but you're also comparing a $30 toy to a $150-$200 tablet.

MAN, slickdeals is killing me lately. I bit. Will be good for 2 kids and 15 hours worth of plane flights to Japan and Taiwan.

Thanks OP.

Looks interesting, but my kids already have a Intel ClassmatePC, Android tablet, and Nintendo DS.

With all those things, they still prefer flipping though a (real) book and wanting my wife or myself to read to them which is totally cool.

I bought this when it came out, Fisher price puts all the games on their website for free.... here is the link

http://www.fisher-price.com/ixl/s...macintosh/

even tho it is Macintosh, here is how you make it work on windows...

Ill use the BATMAN game as an example.

Batman_v2.0.0.6.pkg.zip
-MACOSX This contained installer info for macintosh computers
-Batman.pkg This contained the game info for the iXL device

then inside the Batman.pkg folder;

-Contents
-Icon
Inside the contents folder there were more installer information files, as well as other garbage, but all
I was oncerned about was the Archive.pax.gz which was the the largest file in the whole archive, it takes
up like 99% of the archive size. It was obvious that this is the game data. Once extracted out of the .zip, and extract the Archive.pax.gz using winRAR, we find;

Archive.pax

A quick search of .pax files on google shows me winTAR will extract it. Once extracted, this file produces
the directories;

-.
-library
-Application Support
-Fisher-Price
-iXL
-Titles
-Batman

The batman folder containing all the game data that any cd would. I verified this with my store bought scooby-doo disc

Once you have extracted the PAX file, you can modify the registry to fool the iXL software into loading each game you download.

put each extracted game into C:\Program Files\Fisher-Price\iXL\Titles\GAMENAME

or

C:\Program Files (x86)\Fisher-Price\iXL\Titles\GAMENAME
if you are windows 7

you have to add a line in the registry

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Fisher-Price\iXL\Titles\GAMENAME]
"directory"="C:\\Program Files\\Fisher-Price\\iXL\\Titles\\GAMENAME\\"
"updateurl"="http://FPUpdateServer.fisher-price.com/"

or

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Fisher-Price\iXL\Titles\GAMENAME]
"directory"="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Fisher-Price\\iXL\\Titles\\GAMENAME\\"
"updateurl"="http://FPUpdateServer.fisher-price.com/"

if you are windows 7

GAMENAME is the game of each game

This speaks some thing at "Product Details", but i'm also having doubt how much its useful, after having (1.iTouch, DellStreak7, Acer Icon A500 tablet, can't we use free apps that will save$ on this???? )

it's probably a little too advanced for a child at 24 months, but if he/she is closer to three then it should be fine...

Yes. My daughter was two when I got this for her. She loved it and still does now that she is almost 4.

Our daugher likes her iXL even though she has full access to an iPad. She knows the iXL is hers whereas the iPad is the family's.

The SD card issue is pretty annoying. I tried taking it out and reinserting it before a few times and that didn't work, so I reloaded all of the games onto the card each time (PITA). Guess I'll try the cardboard hack.

So the Macintosh software posted works on all Macs? Some friends of mine might want to get in on the free games without the iXL itself.

My daughter is only 7 months - I am guessing this isn't a good enough deal to go ahead and by it and hold it until she is old enough?
