Comcast/Xfinity - Upgrade to Blast Internet Speed for $39.99/month for 12 months - No Contract - YMMV

I swear the best pricing I ever get is with the Comcast reps in the Best Buy stores. I am paying $19.99 for this same speed now. I'm in Philadelphia, PA if this helps.

Where you are perhaps, probably somewhere where there is competition, because Comcast doesn't offer anywhere near those prices where I live. This discussion is pointless unless we're talking about the same area.

As others have said, yes, we know Comcast can slam you with terrible customer service and make it tough to switch out of plans... but the same can be said for AT&T so should we thumbs down a good deal on a cell phone from them?

Your commentary almost seems to be against the OP for not knowing prices will revert to full after 12 months ... and not Comcast...

If you have just internet and nothing else they will never give you a deal.

Of course, wouldn't you thumbs down a mag deal like that? You have to look at the total cost, unless you only need it for a year, you have to consider the price after 12 months. Are you saying it doesn't matter how much you pay after a year? Really?

Look for a promo offer by your local DSL provider.

Call the 1-800-COMCAST number. Go through the phone menu for "remove or cancel services".

Tell them your internet service is too expensive and tell them what the DSL promo offer is. At this point the CS rep usually offers a promo rate for 6 months.

I do this every 6 months with Comcast for the promo "Double Play" rate on cable/internet.

Fark comcast. Im paying $45 just for 15MB plan. If I want to get $39.99 deal, I MUST have Bundle Plan with TV Cable. No go for me =(

Except for the fact that you can pretty easily get them to give you a new deal at the end of the year. Heck if I'm going to be paying $72.95 for Blast Internet a year from tomorrow. Your point is correct, it's not a great deal if you were forced to pay the "retail" price after the year is up, but there are so many ways to get another deal that it nullifies your point entirely.

I'd gladly spend 30 minutes in a chat room with Comcast once a year to get faster internet for a cheaper price - especially when there is no contract, so if I want to leave at any time, I can.

You might actually get that price for 6 months only. You never know because comcast are liars. Unless you have it in writing, you should keep an eye on the bills after the 6 months.

Thanks OP, your post made me get up my lazy @ss and do something about my current internet package. I was paying $45 for internet ( I used to get 25mbps down and 4 up via speedtest.net). Just converted it to $19.99 performance for 6 months.

edit: FYI I had performance internet, and I was paying more than double for it!! wtf?

Except it's not possible. Lots of people, maybe almost everyone, have that experience. Tell us exactly how you get a new deal each year without disconnecting your service. Threatening to disconnect doesn't work.

The truth is that you're essentially enabling Comcast to rip off people responding to this deal, getting to upgrade to a more expensive plan, and they'll discover they're paying $70+ for internet when their special rate expires and have no way to get out without losing their internet for a time or moving off Comcast. Congratulations.

I think the results for this deal speak for themselves: 1 thumb up. LOL. The smart money avoids Comcast like the plague.

Yes REALLY! It's not like it is a 2 year contract with the 1st year dirt cheap and the 2nd year exorbitant, genius. It's a year of FAST cheap internet with no strings attached. Do whatever the hell you want after the year is up. Go to crappy DSL if you want at that point. It does not change the fact that this deal is CONTRACT-FREE.

Yeah, you're definitely the genius, because most people will just continue on and pay the super expensive rate, unable or unwilling to switch. That's the trick here and why they give you these deals, they prey on human nature. They go further by giving you another deal when this one expires, a bit more expensive, but keeping you on. They boil you like a frog. At the end of it all you're paying $70+ for internet you don't need.

I know you're super smart and can beat Comcast at their game, but the truth is that the only way to win this one is to not play. Comcast is a huge rip off.
