I just got my 15z today and I have major problems:
My 1080p WLED screen shows the mesh/screen door effect. Even my netbooks don't look this unbearable. Photos look like 8 bit images [imgur.com] (image not mine but shows 15z with exact problem) because of the white lines. The case is not sealed tightly and you can see the hard disk under the touchpad through a gaping hole. There is a dead pixel. This will be the first time I return something to Dell and I appreciate any tips about returns/replacement/refunds. |

I had the same issue , but i pressed the upper side , and it locked... I would suggest call them an get 10% off ,and ask them to send a technician to fix it .. |

![]() At first I called to return for exchange but then that wasn't how things worked. I was sent to the XPS Technical Support Department and had to perform self-diagnostic tests (hold fn key + power button). After that, they are dispatching a technician to replace my screen. BTW, could you please assure me that a normal 15z has a beautiful 1080p screen? Whenever I look at pictures, especially photos of faces, there are vertical white lines and it is definitely unbearable. The Dell Mini 9 has a perfect display and I don't believe that the 15z that I got is normal when it is ~10X the cost. Also, how do I get that 10% off again? As I said, this is my first time returning something to Dell and this was the only lemon I got from them after so many perfect purchases. |

U can log on and see what are the parts , which are going to be replaced .. Can you pls tell me the LCD part number ?? My LCD display was brilliant , i am nervous , that the next one may be not as good. Dell must be sending refurbished displays... |

The technician PRETENDED to change the display. He opened the case and worked on the motherboard, but he never took out the screen inside the lid--the entire lid was intact! It's actually hard to open, and I've read that some technicians broke the plastic cover just trying to open it! Now I'm worried that Dell won't believe me because that pathological liar technician claimed he already replaced the screen! I'm more worried that if they agree to replace the display again they'll send the same person!!! AHHH!!! |

H39CR 1 Module,Liquid Crystal Display,15.6FHD,F-LED,True Life,Au Optronics CorpF-LED? Is this a typo? But it says on the same email: H39CR 15.6 inch FHD (1080P) WLED DisplayI was talking to House Kitten on the other thread and he's happy with his screen! So don't worry about yours. I need yours to be perfect (i.e. without these [imgur.com]) so I know mine isn't! |

Now I feel bad considering if he DID replace the lid... I've been accusing the tech because the dead pixel was right where it was. So... could it be the graphics card? I'm not sure how to figure out if it's the graphics card or the screen though. I guess I can plug a monitor and see if it looks the same. I'll still call Dell. I made my order on June 13 so if the 21 day return policy is correct I still have until July 4th. |

Try the tests in this post. |

![]() I did try some tests and it seems that the video card has nothing to do with it. This screenshot of my 15z desktop [imageshack.us] for example looks normal on other screens. And my Dell IPS monitor shows great picture plugged through HDMI. I think it is for the best interest of Dell and mine for me to simply return this defective laptop. Sending me a technician to replace the screen again will cost them more especially if it is indeed the video card, which will cost them another dispatch. I've been very upset about this purchase since it's been with me for 4-5 days now and I couldn't make myself look at it. I use it mainly for social networks so I have to view small photos a lot, and this laptop makes those images horribly pixelated because of the vertical and horizontal white lines between colors. How do I tell them that I want to return my purchase? I'm not used to talking to people and I get nervous when I'm on the phone. I'm still buying a new computer from Dell almost immediately after, most likely an L502x, so I hope they'll give me a full refund. |

did u try to go to bios ?? do u still see the dead pixels? |

I'm not sure if the technician replaced my screen or not (I didn't watch partly because I hate it when people are watching me with distrust and I always try to believe in people initially even if it's a losing bet, and partly because he's scary-looking haha); I'm sure, however, that the dead pixel on the original screen is still on the exact same position on the supposedly "new" one. I'm actually in the middle of taking pictures right now of both this beautiful 1080p TN panel I'm using right now and the defective 1080p WLED screen of the 15z. So far the pictures seem like a bad idea because they actually look good when you look at it in a normal screen! I wish I had the perfect camera to show exactly how pixelated the pictures look. The best page to shoot is a google image search of "faces." |
