I found a forum discussing the same problem as mine [notebookreview.com]. Are you guys sure there's no problem with your screens? I mean, if you compare them with your other displays? I still have to upload the photos from my camera but in the meantime, here are comparison pictures of a normal LCD and a 15z WLED 1080p screen from the forum above: Here [imgur.com]. And here [imgur.com]. Hopefully my pictures will show the white lines in faces although they're definitely the same issue as in the images above. BTW, somebody said it has something to do with the "splendid color" setting turned on by default in the Windows Mobility Center (windows button + x) but no. I tried it the white lines are still there. |

Just keep saying that you want to return it. You will be transferred to different agents and you will tell them the same thing "I want to return my Dell order" until the right agent asks you why. I had all the reasons why and they also have record of the unsuccessful dispatch. I don't do anything special. I just look at it. My eyesight isn't good but I'm near-sighted so I can see perfectly within arm's length. The result is the same with or without my glasses. I have other LCD's and laptops for comparison so I know when something is not right and my 15z is definitely off. Once I get the replacement I'll get the perfect comparison. Worst scenario is if it's actually what it looks like. Right now I feel that I should've just returned my order, but the 30-day wait for the refund kinda got me. And since I used gift cards they're refunding the same gift cards. I have until July 4th till the 21 day return policy expires. I don't know if I can still return my order even after the replacement and the $50 refund. BTW, have you seen the pictures? Does your 15z resemble them? As stated in the other forum, what possibly keeps this issue from becoming an official recall is that other people don't notice the difference. But I doubt it, since my little sister cares little about displays but she noticed that my 15z looks "weird and wrong." |

I noticed the white lines because I use social networks a lot and the white lines appear most noticeably over small pictures of faces. It's especially disconcerting to see how different the pictures look after years of being familiar with them. If you just view a full red page (or blue or green) you can readily see a white mesh pattern (it appears white but it may be an optical illusion; nevertheless, for something designed for humans it should not be so). |

had the tech replace the lcd assembly for the hinges .. the new lcd does have the sceen door effect , but its minor . when i focus on the screen , it can been seen from a particular distance. |

Dell is sending me a replacement unit today. Can I still cancel if they sent me another defective one? Even after they gave me a $50 refund? |

U can cancel , its just that ur refund would be $50 less than what u paid ( as u got a $50 refund already) U would also loose on the $75( the extra gift card) , and u would be struck with a $400 gc. |

The colors look "better" on the XPS 15z but that's because the Splendid Color setting is on (you can disable it by pressing winkey + x), and the colors look almost the same with that setting off (but the colors still look better on the 15z in Generic Color). BTW, I got myself an L502x i7 QM 2.0 ghz 1080p B+RGLED GT540 2GB TV Tuner Win7 Pro Blu-ray 8GB RAM for $697.93 after 20% coupon and tax and fees and the Amex $100 off. If I get a good replacement I'll keep it and give it to my little sister. If I get another 15z reject I'll get a full refund and call Dell to modify my payment method for the L502x to include the gift cards (I know Dell can do this for you). |

I didn't give anything. They somehow know everything already. I'm still waiting for the call. They said they'll call me Friday 9AM to 11AM PST about the cashback and the replacement system. I called them last Monday I think, and while we were talking they put me on hold for almost an hour because they were talking to Manufacturing. |
