If I sign in on another xbox with my gamertag, I have access to everything I have purchased as well. The "manual" transfer is for offline play or playing with a gamertag other than the one which purchased the content.

Not true for the EA online game pass. Or at least it wasnt true for me on PS3. The OP's situation differed from mine slightly but sounds pretty similar in the end.

To be clear, my ordeal was over a year ago, so it's possible EA could have made some improvements since then but it sounds like there are still some lingering issues like the one the OP is referring to.

That was exactly his point...

He went from Console A to Console B and it worked perfectly fine for Profile A...just as you are describing Steam would also work. That is how the Xbox always works, every day, no transfer needed...on the purchasing profile you have access to all your games no matter the console.

However, his issue was, when he moved from Console A to Console B; Profile B did not work any longer.

It does for the Online Pass too. I have two consoles, and if the wife banishes me to the back bedroom to play for the night I can still just sign in and play BF3.

Initially it did work but at some point in time, it crapped out on him. And per policy as the CSR stated, the license should apply to all other profiles on his machine. He even said he tried to re-download the pass again and manually transfer the license a second time, but neither worked. If the license was truly tied to the account, he should be able to re-download it and it should work as expected. For whatever reason it did not. Sounds like his issue isn't uncommon regarding the license transfer so to me, it sounds like a bug.

My issue was that the online pass was on a PS3 that died. I had no way of transferring manually and when i went to play the same game after i got it back from service, the same code could not be re-entered on the new machine, nor was it tied to my account as i thought it would be.

It must just be a bug with the online passes because normal purchased content doesn't have that problem. It still allowed the purchaser to play but it did not reassign itself to the new system so others could play. Both EA and MS are probably at fault but shit happens. Hopefully they fix it.

Yes and No. My wife can be logged into Steam on her PC in Offline Mode and play games while I'm on my computer playing something else.

We both cannot be signed in, online, with the same profile.
