New rules as of July 2013: You can't redeem for more than one $25 bonus gift card per calendar year, and you only get up to $2000@5% per quarter. This card is now almost down to being mediocre... barely any better than Chase Freedom or Discover More cards.

To check earning history or check the start date:

https://cashplus.usbank.com/index...unthistory

Check Application Status (Automated): 800-947-1444

*Categories subject to change quarterly. No limit on the amount of cash back earned.

https://cashplus.usbank.com/index.../demo/true shows the different categories that can be selected for the 5% and 2% options.

Existing customers of US BANK:

Called about a different card I've had over a decade with US Bank.
Casually asked about the Cash+. Rep said that I am already pre-approved for the Cash+; she commented that I would not need a new application or a credit pull if I converted my existing card to the Cash+. Further, said the account number might change but will not show as a new account in the credit report (i.e. the account history/duration stays).
So, if you have a US Bank card you don't use that often...you could just switch.

Direct link to $50 bonus app: http://www.usbank.com/facebookcash

NOTE: If you sign up for next quarters categories like a day or two before the start of that quarter DO NOT USE THE CARD with the expectation of CB BEFORE the 3 business day wait period as it will not be applied.
US BANK takes 3 business days to activate those categories for you. It is a special circumstance that is easily avoidable with all the time given to register, but in my experience my card arrived at 6/28 so my wait period crossed into the next quarter. As it turned out I got no bonus CB on an early purchase just the 1%.

See http://visa.via.infonow.net/locator/usa/supplier/ListLoadAction.do for an idea of how stores are classified.

Was told by USBank CSR they can tell you how a payee is categorized with the payee's name and address/zip, so call before you make the bonus selection or transaction.

Does anyone know what happens when you overpay your utility company? Do they send you a check? I was thinking of overpaying the electricity and see what happens if I get the 5% or not. lol
I've prepaid my PSE&G utility bill before with a 5% cashback CC (citi dividend). The limit was 2k with $4 fee. Can't comment on other utility companies though.

Old question but i haven't found the answer. Can i do 5% on a certain category, say hotel, in every quarter or I have to change them to something different every 3 months?

See the wiki after the first post. This is an issue for some retailers like Tiger Direct which does not give back 5% for electronics as their merchant category code is not electronics so they give one percent. This card does not post categories like Amex does for each transaction. You have to figure it out from amount of rewards posted.

But is there a way on the online account itself to see what a certain transaction is categorized as? Some cards I have allow you to drill into each transaction to see how the card is categorizing them.

Not that I know of which is why I pointed out Amex as one who does in my post. US Bank has to have the worst web site when it comes to displaying credit card info IMO. If I can get 5% back in cash am not going to complain about it too much.

Here's a quote from ealier in the thread which helps me:
Quote from warcraft82 :
You can view the cashback by transaction via their online banking:

Once you're logged in and on the main Your Accounts page, click 'Rewards Center' on the left. On the Reward Center page click 'Credit Card' in the table. Then on this Reward Details page, click the 'View Rewards History' button at the bottom.

This won't help if the merchant category isn't correct, but at least you can see which transactions are counting. It updates semi-realtime (whenever the charge has posted) so you don't have to wait until the end of the billing cycle.
