Found this interesting read from our deal friend @fueldude. From what I was told, you'll get a list each quarter to choose from for the 5%.

New rules as of July 2013: You can't redeem for more than one $25 bonus gift card per calendar year, and you only get up to $2000@5% per quarter. This card is now almost down to being mediocre... barely any better than Chase Freedom or Discover More cards.

To check earning history or check the start date:

https://cashplus.usbank.com/index...unthistory

Check Application Status (Automated): 800-947-1444

*Categories subject to change quarterly. No limit on the amount of cash back earned.

https://cashplus.usbank.com/index.../demo/true shows the different categories that can be selected for the 5% and 2% options.

Existing customers of US BANK:

Called about a different card I've had over a decade with US Bank.
Casually asked about the Cash+. Rep said that I am already pre-approved for the Cash+; she commented that I would not need a new application or a credit pull if I converted my existing card to the Cash+. Further, said the account number might change but will not show as a new account in the credit report (i.e. the account history/duration stays).
So, if you have a US Bank card you don't use that often...you could just switch.

Direct link to $50 bonus app: http://www.usbank.com/facebookcash

NOTE: If you sign up for next quarters categories like a day or two before the start of that quarter DO NOT USE THE CARD with the expectation of CB BEFORE the 3 business day wait period as it will not be applied.
US BANK takes 3 business days to activate those categories for you. It is a special circumstance that is easily avoidable with all the time given to register, but in my experience my card arrived at 6/28 so my wait period crossed into the next quarter. As it turned out I got no bonus CB on an early purchase just the 1%.

See http://visa.via.infonow.net/locator/usa/supplier/ListLoadAction.do for an idea of how stores are classified.

Was told by USBank CSR they can tell you how a payee is categorized with the payee's name and address/zip, so call before you make the bonus selection or transaction.

The following do not count as any valid category so DON'T bother:

So my wife got stuck with the lower card with a $1500 CL and her credit history is as good as mine, a little older, but with less total credit. I got a $17,500 CL so it's a huge difference based on a minor thing. They even asked her to call because they needed more info. She called, put on hold, and told never mind the more info you're accepted. How should I proceed at this point? Wait the 6 months or call now? Really weird situation.
Quoting myself with an update. About a week after receiving the weak 1% card I received a Cash plus card. Same card number, expiration, and security code on back. CL did not change so I have a Visa Signature card with a $1500 CL. I was able to choose categories so I'm pretty sure it's an actual Cash plus card. A little strange with a low CL but better than nothing.

I noticed that there is a category in the rewards statement for a 'First Use Bonus'. Did anyone receive a bonus when first used or how to obtain it?

I got a "spam" offer in the mail for this card, that offered $100 reward after using it for the first time. Needed a unique promo card at sign-up.

Anyone have experience getting the normal 1% card? I got the 1% card with a 9K limit, and can't upgrade... Does anyone know how long I have to wait to upgrade the card?

Can I just activate the card and not use it? My Freedom and Amazon card give better rewards...
