I love this card, but lots of changes are coming. Top categories are going away (bill pay, airlines, home improvement), but they are adding bookstores, sporting goods and cell phone. The whopper though...only one $25 bonus per $100 redemption per year. There will also be a $2000 spend cap on the 5% category. I assume that amount is quarterly but I'm trying to find out.

I was thinking about applying for this card. Do you know if the chances will apply for existing members?

I called them up. The CSR I talked to said that he hasn't heard of the $25 bonus per $100 redemption per year change, however, the categories are likely to change. YMMV

If they add bookstore, does that mean amazon would qualify for 5%?

$2000 in spending will be capped in the 5% categories QUARTERLY. After that, you are only eligible to earn 1% back.

Yes, this is true. You will only be allowed on $25 bonus per year.

I work for US Bank and just got news of this the other day. I'm an avid user of this card and was disappointed to hear of it! Most of these changes won't take affect until after May so spend away!

Signup requires going into a branch? Not one within 600 miles of my location.

There was a backdoor to apply online, but that seems to have been fixed. Has anyone been able to apply by phone?

CSR last night gave me a number to apply by phone. Said it shouldn't be a problem. I personally haven't tried yet because I just woke up and stil have a 'raspy voice' :p

That number was 800-947-1444. And he confirmed last night that they are open Saturday's.
