New rules as of July 2013: You can't redeem for more than one $25 bonus gift card per calendar year, and you only get up to $2000@5% per quarter. This card is now almost down to being mediocre... barely any better than Chase Freedom or Discover More cards.

To check earning history or check the start date:

https://cashplus.usbank.com/index...unthistory

Check Application Status (Automated): 800-947-1444

*Categories subject to change quarterly. No limit on the amount of cash back earned.

https://cashplus.usbank.com/index.../demo/true shows the different categories that can be selected for the 5% and 2% options.

Existing customers of US BANK:

Called about a different card I've had over a decade with US Bank.
Casually asked about the Cash+. Rep said that I am already pre-approved for the Cash+; she commented that I would not need a new application or a credit pull if I converted my existing card to the Cash+. Further, said the account number might change but will not show as a new account in the credit report (i.e. the account history/duration stays).
So, if you have a US Bank card you don't use that often...you could just switch.

Direct link to $50 bonus app: http://www.usbank.com/facebookcash

NOTE: If you sign up for next quarters categories like a day or two before the start of that quarter DO NOT USE THE CARD with the expectation of CB BEFORE the 3 business day wait period as it will not be applied.
US BANK takes 3 business days to activate those categories for you. It is a special circumstance that is easily avoidable with all the time given to register, but in my experience my card arrived at 6/28 so my wait period crossed into the next quarter. As it turned out I got no bonus CB on an early purchase just the 1%.

See http://visa.via.infonow.net/locator/usa/supplier/ListLoadAction.do for an idea of how stores are classified.

Was told by USBank CSR they can tell you how a payee is categorized with the payee's name and address/zip, so call before you make the bonus selection or transaction.

The following do not count as any valid category so DON'T bother:

Liquor stores aren't a category and hookers don't take credit cards.
I thought you got 2% on Groceries.

Well at least in PA, liquor is not sold in grocery stores and instead in special state run stores.

This may turn out to be decent, but I'm not interested. First, if you have good credit, you shouldn't even be looking at a card that doesn't pay you $200-$250 or more just to sign up. Second, until we have several concrete examples of how the categories work, you really have no idea how good of a deal it will be. Between my BofA cash reqards card and Chase Freedom (both of which I got $250 immediately to open), I get 5% or groceries right now and 3% on gas. Adding substantially to what those cards offer is going to be hard.

And remember, with no sign up bonus (or $50 if you can get it)...you're going to have to charge quite a lot before you make up for the fact that you got very little from the start.

I think the visa signature perks are also a plus to the card, without the annual fee. Currently I have a visa signature card, and use concierge service whenever I go out of town, and they're usually pretty helpful. the other benefits are pretty much standard in my opinion.

So if I choose Airlines as one of my 5% categories, do I have to choose a particular airline? Delta, American, United? Or will I get 5% cash back on all airlines as long as I purchase through airline website and not Expedia, Orbitz, etc?

Nobody noticed that the flight redemption is pretty good?

@20k points, one can get up to $400 airfare... that used to be pretty good for the old Citi Amex before they changed the terms. But not as good as the 90K points for business class airfare up to $2700.

Have to book flight on airlines website to get cashback(expedia orbitz etc are not eligible)
U should use those as search engines only. It is very rare and usually illegal for them to be cheaper than airlines website.

I know there is no magical answer to this question........but does anyone know about where the low-end cutoff might be credit-score-wise? About how low would be low enough not to bother?

I am currently on US Bank Flexperks SIgnature - 90$ annual fee.
I average ~ 26K per year being my main CC. I earn ~ 40K Rewards miles out of these charges.

You migs think it is better to switch to this card? No?

so, under terms and conditions, it says "Should your application for the U.S. Bank Cash+™ Visa Signature card be denied, submitting this application constitutes your application for a U.S. Bank Cash Rewards Visa® Card" does anyone know if the cash rewards visa card has the same rewards program?
