this is a good deal since most of the top chests are only 12" deep and this is 16". good for several reasons:

1. more storage compared to 12" deep chest
2. no 4" dead space where 12" upper and 16" lower meet

This would be a super slick price on a decent chest. Only thing is, the drawer slides, despite being ball-bearing, have a "self-locking" feature that makes them close really poorly. You have to just about force the drawer in to close it all the way. The drawers also don't really close all the way like most other chests, the front of the drawer sort of "floats" in front, flush with the front of the chest, which leaves a slight gap, making it look like the drawers are actually slightly open.

Nice deal, but a really poor drawer/slide setup.

i always worry sawdust is gonna get in (it's behind my miter)...but seems to stay mostly sawdust free...i agree though

Bought the 12 in. one a few days ago ( http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_1015...931293000P ), but sadly, threw out the cardboard box. I would really like the extra 4 inches, but not sure how to go about returning the old one.

I have the top chest, it was a christmas present a couple years ago. I completely agree with you, the self-locking feature is useless and downright annoying - I slide all my drawers in until they get to the self-locking bump, I don't bother pushing them in all the way because it requires too much effort to open and close them. I would like to add on the bottom portion, but the crappy "self-locking" part is so annoying, I think even $130 is a waste of money.

i would call the stores customer service department and find out if you can return it without the box. worst they can say is no.

then report back with what they say
