Yes, that is a good question. The built in speakers on the TP are pretty good for what it is. These may be a little better, but not worth it. Also, if you are using the 4.0 OS on the TP, I do not think that the audio out will yet work on the output jack.
What are you talking about? CM9 works fine with the headphone jack as audio out.
Does anyone have one of these? I'm curious if it will be considerably better than the internal HP Touchpad speakers...
I have the laptop version of this, which doesn't have the battery and is powered by USB. But yes, it makes a significant difference.

I have this and use it often with my laptop and ASUS Transformer. It is a steal for $15, especially if you have crappy speakers.
One of the downsides is that it doesn't have a physical adjustable volume control on it. This is an issue for those few videos that just have really low volume on them. Oh, and the light that indicates whether it has enough charge doesn't really let you know when you should charge it until it's too late. For example, the speaker light turns red when it's about to die. There is no orange light that says, "hey, you should think about charging this soon." There is only a red light that pops up saying, "holy crap! Charge this NOW!"
Despite the negatives (it's not perfect) it definitely suits my needs and is a great improvement on the speakers in my Transformer and XPS m1330 laptop. It's also cool that I can hook this up to my phone in a pinch, though I don't know why I would do that...
I'm thinking about buying one of these for my sister for her Barnes and Noble Nook. The speakers on that are not very good at all. I tried one of my off brand rechargable speakers with her nook and it didn't really help, wouldn't get loud at all But that same speaker gets plenty loud when used with my droid Bionic. Anyone out there use this with the nook?
In for 2, got them last night, for $32.38 total, shipped, it's a great deal!! If anything like my Logitech usb computer speakers, it will be well worth the price!! Description on the web site said usb charge, so not sure what the questions on battery life were even brought up. I have had my pc speakers for 2+ yrs. now without any issues.Reviews on Amazon are mixed, but less face it, you can't compare these to high end speakers costing 3-4x the price. They should be more than sufficient though. From my past experience with Logitech, they would definitely be worth it.Oh, and my pc speakers were also bought as "dented box",box came in great condition, just an open box, and if I remember correctly it did have a small BB sticker on it, so was most likely a return. Thanks OP for the post!
