This is a very good camera,. Sure you can do a lot of things manually, but I must have a dozen cameras easily, from big DSLR's to little Elphs and none of them have the same chance of getting a nice picture in less than perfect conditions, while running in full auto mode as this camera does. It's 'almost' stupid proof.

My wife (as pretty as she is) does not like big cameras--calling them "paparrazi cameras", but she's OK with the G12. The pics it gets makes the pics from my Canon SX230 look like they came from a Kodak Brownie, from days of yore.

Who needs GPS on a camera anyway? Wherever you go--there you are!

I got it from Frys for $299.99 a few months ago and have seen it for under $350 a couple other times from major, reputable dealers. This is the cheapest I've seen it in at least 2 months though, so if you need it now this is a pretty decent deal as everywhere else seems to be over $400 now.

did they dropped the price to 369.99?

It was G12. I think the deal was store pickup only though, I'm lucky enough to live near a Fry's.
