College Student & Faculty Get a Free PlayStation w/ Select Sony VAIO® Computers

Does anyone know if it's possible to install a SSD in the Sony T series ultrabook? I want to buy the 320gb one and hopefully be able to upgrade to SSD myself, since they're charging $170 for the SSD when they can be bought as low as $80 now.

You should always be able to do that on new laptop. Take out the CD/DVD Drive and put the ssd in. I already bought a 256GB m4 and plan to equip my new Sony S.

Sounds good, i was planning on a 128 m4.

Hmm my Viaio S doesn't have a removeable dvd rom drive , oh well, won't have to worry about it getting loose, as my HP's did. Now to get a squaretrade warranty, don't know how I would get a warranty on the free vita.

Has anyone decided to return their laptop? How does Sony handle the return with the free PS3, since Sony states that all game hardware are non-returnable? I'm thinking about returning my S13A premium because I'm gonna get the Asus UX32VD instead. The flex of the lid and the fact that the metal around the keyboard has a purple tint bothers me.

I read on notebookreview forum that someone already did that, but the laptop won't recognize the secondary hard drive in the optical space. You have to wait for a bios update from Sony. And the swap seems like a big pain because it requires a near disassembly of the laptop to get to the optical drive.

He/She asked about the T series. It doesn't have a CD/DVD drive to take out. It does have a hard drive with 32GB SSD built in that can be replaced though.

Personally I'm wondering if the 32GB is a separate mSATA drive or if it is a hybrid drive like the 500gb seagate that I'm using which has a 4GB SSD, which seems to do absolutely nothing.

I'd love to buy the 320GB version and just swap it out with my 500gb drive and leave the 32GB ssd alone but not sure if it is built into the hard drive or not or if it is even usable as an ssd or if it just acts as a cache to help speed things up.

It's not a hybdrid drive. It's a regular low-profile drive. The 32gb "SSD" thing is on a separate slot on the motherboard.

I am set to receive my vita today (already listed it on craigslist). But bummed out that I have to wait another month to get my T-series. Still, under $600 is not bad for an ivy bridge ultrabook (assuming I can get rid of my vita for more than $200)
