Damage control after a speeding ticket |

Take it to court. Chances are, with your brother's driving record, the fine might be lowered. At worst, you'll probably get points lowered or changed to a non-moving violation so it's not reported to your insurance company.

We made love by the ocean, as the waves crashed around you Sunsets never were so bright and the skies never so blue You opened up into my arms, and we laughed as I held you I'll never go back to Georgia, not at least till I have to |

![]() What state were you in when he got the ticket? That can make a big difference on how to handle it. Happiness and depression are both feelings, just like joy and anger. It's not feelings that give us problems. It's what we do with them that makes the difference.

I got my first speeding ticket going 95 on a 70 highway. I paid for the first. My second ticket was for speeding in a school zone, even though the light was not flashing. Got an attorney and he was able to dismiss my 2nd ticket. |

Go to court. The ticket might be lowered to non-moving violation if your brother has a clean record. YMMV as always. Never ever plead guilty and pay a speeding ticket, always go to court, especially with a clean driving record.\\
EDIT: Just saw that you got it in a different state so going to court might not be an option. Hire a lawyer. Last edited by ikonoklast; 06-09-2012 at 12:47 PM.. |

Did the police tag you with a laser gun? If it's laser, then your chance of lowering your fee might be slim to none but it doesn't hurt to hire a lawyer to fight for you. If it's your first time, pay the ticket and do defensive driving to keep your record clean. Paying the ticket will be the least expensive part. Your insurance is a #$@%! How come people don't worry about their insurance rates while they are doing the speeding and only think about it after they get caught? And then they try to get out of the consequences as it they did nothing wrong.
For what it's worth it was worth all the while

Go to court. I got my first speeding ticket last year and went to court where it was changed to impeding traffic. The new fee was slightly higher but I didn't get any points. Next time I got pulled over they said my record came back clean.
I don't know what state you're in but here (Michigan) if you have a clean driving record you are wasting your money if you're getting a lawyer. They will pretty much change the charge to impeding if you just show up at court. Not sure how things work in the state where your brother was ticketed. Either way it's worth going to court.
