Also the special effets were also mainly in SD? so they would have to done too. Seeing how Stargate Atlantis already had blu-ray, it would most likely not happen, but I was just wondering if anyone had any contradicting info |

these prices are SLICK....
I would love to get the smaller box set SG1... but I already have 1-10 in the old single season sets... same for atlantis... I scored them on craigslist (with all the SG movies) along with the complete andromeda box set, battlestar glactica complete old mini and new series, chornicles of riddick set, matrix set and a couple of random dvd movies... all for 100 bucks... girl was getting rid of her ex's crap...LOL... all dvds in perfect condition. |

This is a great deal. I got my set a few years ago on a sale. It true about the scratched and smudged disks. All played fine but they looked used even though it was new.
Tempted to get Atlantis but I will just wait for a deal on the blueray. Since the dvd version had the same problems as th sg1 dvds. |

If there was enough of a potential paying customer base, SG-1 would be out on blu-ray. Right now, with the prices of many blu-rays tanking because of low demand, no production studio in their right mind would pour a ton of money into remastering the entire SG-1 series to the blu-ray format. On the other hand, Stargate: Continuum did get a blu-ray release with the Amazon sales price $35.
At the Gateworld Forum site, one poster wrote that seasons 1-3 of SG-1 were filmed using 16MM film, with the special effects using 35MM film. That poster wrote that a 2K or preferably 4K scan would solve most problems and the blu-ray producers could pass on recreating the special effects. That poster is living in a dream world. Creating digital intermediate scans for the 66 episodes in the first three seasons of this series is very unlikely now. Only if some Internet billionaire who is a fan of the series finances the conversion to blu-ray will you have a chance to buy a 1080p version of the complete SG-1 series. IMHO.
