Verizon Announces New "Bend Over" Smartphone Plans

I wish I could lock my $30 5GB T-Mobile plan into a contract now. Because LTE is useless to me with a 2GB limit. I'm perfectly happy with my 5GB and HSPA+.

I was checking out Verizon's new plans..they must be farking kidding me. $80/month with 300MB of DATA?!??!

WHAT THE HELL? And that's STARTING. You can't go lower than $80/month now with a smartphone on Verizon.

Screw unlimited texts/minutes. Both can be covered by data, and Verizon knows that. It's pure rape at this point.

Who said they were investments? That is like saying Milk is an investment...or that cable TV is an investment. It is ENTERTAINMENT.

I go to a movie, SD the hell out of it, get tickets and popcorn for $6...for 2 hours of entertainment. You are talking $3 an hour! I sure as hell get 10 hours of entertainment a month on my phone...so a Smartphone is just as good of an "investment" as going to the movies.

They're not only raping wireless users, the stupid Quantum Fios is a load of bullshit, too.

OK, so it may be possible to keep your unlimited data plan. I tried upgrading my phone around July 5 via the website, and the system told me that I had to switch to one of the "new," tiered data plans. I just abandoned my order instead.

Today I went online and tried upgrading again via the Verizon website. This time it said I had to choose a compatible data plan, but it let me keep my unlimited data plan for $29.99/mo. I was suspicious, so I started a chat with a CS agent. At first she said that I had to switch to the new tiered rates, and I asked why the system let me keep my unlimited data. I also said I'd rather just go to Sprint if I couldn't keep unlimited data. She asked me to wait, and about 5 mins later she said I could keep my unlimited data plan.

So we'll see...I'm hoping there's not some loophole that I missed, but it looks like I got my new phone + kept unlimited data!
