The latest Costco warranty policy is 90 days for all electronics, especially TVs. The only difference is if you used a Costco Amex card and then Amex handles the warranty.

The new policy means that you can no longer return items to Costco after 90 days. Effectively, they are telling you where to negotiate your replacement. It's quite a bit different than the former policy.

You can call it an extended warranty, but it goes back to the manufacturer now, just like everywhere else.

Got RCA 42inch plasma from best buy for 299.99 about 2 week ago. Thinking return plasma and get this led TV, but it's 60 dollar more. Not sure it's worth it. Also notice the 46inch hisense led tv is on sale for 429.99 at my local walmart. Plasma or led? Plasma is cheaper but use more energy. Hard decision.

Honestly, it is location dependent. I'm not saying the rule is in terms of how it is written, but how customer service deals with the customers. My local Costco will take anything and everything back no questions asked, electronics included.

Recently, Costco opened a new store much closer to me. The store is much the same as the others, but they do two things differently.

1) They hand you a coupon book at the door until they are all gone. Then they scan the single-code coupons at every register whether you have a book or not. No more being forced to tear apart the book for individual items like at one of the other locations.

2) They point to the sign at the customer service desk that refers people to the Concierge Service for returns after 90 days. The call center on the other end of that toll-free number will help you with your purchase date and warranty info, but refers you to the manufacturer for any warranty service.

The gas prices are also a few cents lower than the other locations, at least for now. So, the new location is a mixed blessing.

The Costo computer and TV policy has changed from years ago. I don't care where you live, they won't take everything back no questions asked after their stated time frame. 90 days computers and TV's. Go buy one and try it. Your Costco is no different. It's a great return policy beyond most vendors. But it's no longer forever on computers and TV's. 90 days period.

this is dependent on the costco as they do have the option to override the 90days (sometimes they need a manager but sometimes they dont) my friend recently returned a tv to costco after 6 months and they took it no questions asked. Another returned a laptop after (i think it was) 95 days and they also took it no questions asked (Although that laptop was only 5 or so days past). It depends on how "nice" the return worker is. But this is extremely ymmv, EXTREME

but i'd have to agree and say do not expect it to work past 90 days, it should not be expected

This isn't exactly true. If you have a TV that you bought 10 years ago when they had unlimited return date, you can still return it today. But if its a recent purchase (but over 3 months) they most likely won't refund the money. Sometimes they will still exchange for the same model though.

I agree! 60hz vs 120hz is such a HUGE difference that I can't purchase 60ghz TV's anymore, regardless of the discount.

Personally, I'd rather have a 32" 120Hz tv than a 80" 60Hz tv.
The difference is so big that I had to get a 120Hz monitor.
The smoothness is simply amazing and more enjoyable.

This is a personal opinion. I'm told some people do not enjoy 120Hz tv's.

No personal experience with Hisense brand, but my Vet's office has a tv in the waiting area that is on at least 8 hours/day & they're open 6 days/week. When I glanced at the brand I was thinking wtf is Hisense? Every customer is paying hundreds if not thousands & they have a generic a$$ tv in the customer lounge? So i remember it was Hisense. They've had it for at least the last 2-3 visits with my dog, so at least for them, it lasted over a year with lots of usage/on time. They usually have on some loop selling advantix, science diet, advertising tests, or morning news programs.

Also I was at Costco last week & after paying for my purchases & making my way to the exit which is next to the membership services & returns line, some guy had the nerve to bring back a really big either projection or dlp tv with a really dusty stand. I don't recall Costco carrying anything but flat panels in the past couple years, so that thing had to be pretty old. It was like 2-3 feet deep so it might have been a really old projection tv. I was on my way out, so didn't get to see whether or not they took it back. If its projection it's probably over 10 years old.

Is there anything wrong with the RCA 42"? How is the picture?




This Australian forum discusses Hisense TV's. They seem to give it favorable reviews. The hz speeds are different in other parts of the world.
