I second that touch is good for kids. I put together a toughbook laptop back when it was the only touch screen around. It was for a 5 year old that picked up on using it better than me. Now all my grandkids use touch screens. It has really come in to play with the youngest since he is autistic and their are some good apps for them using touch screen.I'm not real big on the AIO's but I have seen some deals on the lenova outlet site you have to keep checking to find a deal

Some of the reports are seriously surprising, like this one.

I dont really understand the touch issue what with two-touch swipe versus ? Usng more than 2 fingers?
The touch thing seems to be more of a novelty. My kids tend not to be poking the screen, I can only imagine the temptation once they realize touching the screen actually does something. I dont see much a benefit for normal web browsing and documents. Am I missing something? |

Let's say you're 10 feet away from the AIO and someone calls you on Skype. Normally, you'd dash over, looking for the mouse, trying to get the pointer in place to hit "Answer". With a touch machine, you just hit the Answer icon with your finger without even bending over. Now you're looking at a very long document or webpage, looking for something in particular. At that point, it's simply easier to maneuver that page up and down with a finger, than it is with a mouse, not to mention being able to zoom in quickly by spreading your two fingers. Now you're playing Angry Birds. Take a guess as to which is easier and more fun, to launch the birdie from the sling shot with your mouse or your finger. Then there are the touch games that only work by finger. There's nothing to explain there. If you don't have a touch screen, you can't play them. Now you decide to go see the house you were born in on Google Earth. Since you have a touch machine, you use the MSC version that comes in the Microsoft Touch Pack, as it works with pinch and zoom, whereas Google earth does not. The ease of manipulating it with your fingers is not only better, but a lot more fun. You'd still do 95% of what you're going to do, with your mouse and cursor, but when it's time to "Go Touch", it's fast and it's a blast. If one were to exclusively use the touch feature, one's would get tired quickly, if the computer is placed in a normal PC position. On the other hand, I have placed a touchscreen in a lower position, like on a coffee table or a bed, and played around with it for hours, without using the mouse, |

I have purchased or had friends purchase a total of 3 2305's of these and everyone loves them my daughter has pretty much stopped using her laptop and just uses the All in one 23" built in speakers it was made for multimedia, no issues at all .
Dell also has just come out with new OptiPlex 9010 All-in-One you can check the refurbs for them as most will be demo units that were sent out, I am getting my demo in a week or so. |

I've had my Lenovo touch AIO for over a year now and it's been all I expected to be.
I have a fair bit of confidence in Lenovo, in general, and their AIO computers seem to be very reliable. There's a deal [bestbuy.com] on a 21.5 inch model (same size as mine) for $530, that includes an Intel i3, 4 gigs of ram, a 500 gig 7200 rpm hard drive (same as mine and essential to good performance) with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. It doesn't have any extras, apart from a card reader, built in webcam and microphone, as most AIO's have, but it sure seems to fit the bill for your needs and the price. * does not tilt. |
