Good luck with your search.
I've had a few of this EXACT same question by PM in my Inbox over the last 2 days, so I'll just cut and paste:
I have owned that tablet personally and even commented about it numerous times here on the website. Here are a few snips of posts or replies. My responses are in bold. View Post : http://slickdeals.net/f/3977892-P...st47910298 I mostly lurk here, but this thread has been really informative. All I need a tablet for is for reading comic books and to use as a portfolio, so I want a larger-format tablet with a quality display and great blacks, for as little money as humanly possible. I don't need it for movies or games (that ain't how I roll). This looks like a contender, and now I'm looking at the Zenithink C91... Personally, I love the C91 and would recommend it to anyone. I think it feels great in the hand, has a nice balance of the things that I look for in a tablet, and is sleek. It really acts and feels like something double the money in my opinion. http://slickdeals.net/f/3977892-P...st47894958
Quote from jacure View Post : http://slickdeals.net/f/3977892-P...st47894096 do they have like a 10inch one? Yes, Ployer has the MoMo11 model which is 9.7", but the price is pretty high. I think the Zenithink C91 is a better buy for the money, personally. It's pretty sleek and doesn't break the bank. That one comes with Android 4.0 as well. Check that one while you're doing your research. PM me back if you have any other questions and good luck.

If anyone wants to see how their Shenzhen (this is the #1 place in China where all fake/copy/lookalike tablets/consumer electronics are made. Because guess where iPads, iPhones, and all your other iDevices are also made?
..hint..It starts with Shen and ends with zhen) tablet is manufactured, from start to finish, exclusive sneak peak inside a Chinese factory, for probably the first time ever, that is this detailed...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfyAjkPIYyc ...get to see how they put the glue in for the battery, the quality control testing (that's her knocking the dice thing to test the mic, and cameras), testing the audio and power ports, the shackles on their hands and feet that electric shock them if they mess something up*, etc. etc. cool stuff! ...this is actually very similar to the one OP posted. Mail 400, 7" capacitive, ...however it uses a Boxchip (cheaper) processor instead of the Cortex A8 from here. However, your manufacturing process is 99.9% the same..hell, I wouldn't be surprised if this tablet wasn't manufactured in the same factory. ![]() Finished product shown here.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=In635nKlMfo haha holy shit..if you actually go to 3:10 of the second video they show the A13 chip, and right under it says "AllWinner Tech" on it. So this is VERY similar to this tablet here. |

EVO,
You must be jesus christ in person to tolerate the hate you receive in this thread. I'm not even interested in the product, but I just wanted to post how much I appreciate the way you handle yourself. Thank you for the massive amount of information given in this thread. Thank you for the offers of assistance to those unhappy with previous recommendations (even if you had no hand in the products failure). And thank you for carrying yourself with dignity and compassion for fellow slickdealers! Wish I could rep you some more!

this post is just for info..<<I just bought the one from Big Lots last week.(Polaroid PMID702C) $89,00
Not a stellar deal but I like it.. Camera, plays MKV files (at least those I tested), Ice cream sandwich, wifi, 4 hours battery,,added 8 gig micro sd card ($8), downloaded amazon apps, added "angry birds, pandora, ebooks,mp3s. good to go so far. If the $69 tablet is as good as PMID702C,,,,it is an awesome deal. Just wanted to let you know what i thought of the Polaroid.. what's funny...Polaroid has their...."tagline" Designed in the USA Made in China on it...Anyway I am happy with the Polaroid...I have only had it for about a week though. Just my 2cents worth and I am a novice tablet person.. OH Yeah...Netflix works ok on it as well. a bit laggy when first launching it but mine plays movies with out lagging. later Last edited by dunvarna; 06-16-2012 at 01:28 PM.. Nice one. ![]() The people in our receiving / warehouse have to wear those anti-static bands when they handle the Integrated Circuits and other components that we buy and sell every day to the world's manufacturers. Two funny points about companies like the ones you mention located in Shenzhen: 1. Shenzhen companies will not (unless absolutely desperate and fully tested before using) buy from Mainland China component brokers, due to the overwhelming amount of counterfeits and concern for their production line going down because of it. Think about that for a moment. They will not even buy from their own neighborhood, because the parts that they build with cannot be trusted. 2. Companies like mine here in the US, almost without exception, do not do business with those smaller ODM / CEM / Subcontractors that churn out devices on reference design. We only deal with the larger companies that have some sort of USA presence, due mostly to logistics and easier to handle payment structures and Net terms. Those companies buy from Smaller Asian companies / Pacific Rim, Australia, and some parts of Europe.......but not us. Actually, the number is 3, because I bought a Flytouch / SuperPad from McBub, that I still have, but it doesn't get used as much as the others. I would still have the AiShuo A816 to this day, if my son didn't decide to step right into the center of the screen. It was one of my favorites of all that have come through my hands.
I think I've had to learn on here to pick my battles and try to only reply with fact rather than getting into all out flame wars. Whatever the case, I appreciate that you're acknowledging it, even though I know it's still sort of an area I should improve on. (As evidenced in some parts of this thread) Thanks for the reps.

![]() I found a video of SMT line too, where they QC test the boards and make it. Very cool. It amazes me though that they can wear 1.) Casual attire 2.) No hair nets 3.) No gloves http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rch6y6T3vFQ Funny thing is..near the end of the video, you see who the gigantic robotic machine that makes the PCB boards is made by... Samsung. ...is there anything this company DOESN'T make? When you got the Chinese Shenzhen makers even using your machines to make their knockoff tablets to undercut yours, you definitely have control of the market..I think. Gotta say after watching these videos...the Chinese have it down to a science at this point. They know how to spit out cheap electronics and actually do quality control (I mean not extensively but enough I guess...). I mean I don't expect Apple's (umm...Foxconn's) standards I guess... ...but I assumed they would do the little fingertip glove things and the masks/hats. |

While at first glance, it definitely looks casual, I watched the entire video front to back. You end up seeing that they are much more thorough than the people in that area probably were even just 6 or 12 months ago. Also, the machinery that is being used is not cheap.....at all. Some of those machines are $1mil+ each. I was particularly impressed with each and every (looks like major) voltage point being checked towards the end. To me, this seems like what IBM would be like if they ran their assembly line at Standford University and had the kids doing it......rather than Research Triangle Park with airtight rooms and Engineers in rabbit suits. Thanks for the video, always love taking a look behind the curtain. On a sidenote, I once went to Sanmina-SCI (one of the largest CEM's in the world) in Guadalajara, Mexico (One of the primary centers for technology production in the world) and was talking to buyers at the facility. I pulled out my camera to take a picture with some friends that I had worked with for years and a security guard ran, screaming in Spanish, full speed, with an assault rifle, towards me telling me that photos were NOT allowed. ![]() Needless to say, there were no more photos inside that afternoon. Apparently the Nortel's, Cisco's, and Tellabs' of the world value their secrets quite a bit in that part of the world. |

I'm fascinated by the tablet market.
Just last year at this time, all these big players were rolling out their flagship models, thinking consumers would pay upwards of $600 for a tablet. Well, the public wasn't that stupid (ipad owners notwithstanding). Today, we have the Kindle Fire, a very active secondary market and we are just a few weeks away from seeing a quality quad-core tablet hit the market at or below the $250 price point. I can't wait to see what that does to prices in the secondary market, and what price points we'll be talking about for new products as we approach Black Friday. My first tablet was a Craig CMP-738A purchased from CVS Pharmacy in March of 2011. I was never more frustrated with a product than that tablet. The wireless came and went, nothing installed as it should, I tried a couple of ROMs from the development community and still could not make it even remotely useful. The hours I wasted on it did, however, let me cut my teeth on the Android OS, and I had a better experience with my Huawei Ascend X smartphone that I purchased in June of 2011. Then a little over a month ago I picked up a refurb Huawei S7 Slim for $80. Compared to the Craig tablet, it was useful, snappy, its features worked, and apps installed as they should. I don't know if the tablet that is the subject of this thread is going to be cheap and frustrating like the Craig, or sturdy and useful like the S7 Slim. I do know that prices like these are good harbingers for where prices for tablets with name brands that can be purchased (and returned if need be) locally here in the U.S. are heading. And hey, for $70, it's a worthwhile experiment. Maybe it's the tablet you cut your teeth on, or maybe it's a diamond in the rough and everything you desired in a tablet. |
