As I've had this for almost 2 months now .. I can't pin it down, whether the CPU is really underpowered, or there's something funky going on with app(s). Multiple times a day, the CPU will be maxed out for *minutes* and it's completely unusable. I've tried to remove programs that show up as "running" that I don't need -- Like, I've gotten rid of Gmail and Yahoo Mail. Those programs run at startup and check mail, and I'll give up that functionality for a tablet that is responsive. Generally, my kids are just playing games on the tablet .. my wife uses it as a book reader. It's completely unusable as a browser, way, way too slow. (And yes .. I've even reset this back to factory, wiped out all apps and started again.) |

You could have gotten something much better than that for around $100-$130. I ended up getting a pre-owned samsung galaxy tab 7 plus that was from cowboom that was graded 5 out of 10 but after receiving it - it was more like 9 out of 10 with no scratches in the front or the back. I know $70 and $130 is a $60 difference, but for that $60 take notes that the samsung tab has powerful smooth dual core processor, 1gig of ram, front and rear facing cameras that surprisingly take excellent pictures even though the back camera is only 3.2 mega pixels with Flash and front is 2 mega pixels which is still impressive, bluetooth, gps, real Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich{Official - not a custom rom} unlike these forked down chinese versions. |

Now that I know the tablet will be well used throughout the months and years .. I'm looking for a beefier tablet that can muscle through apps that are abusing the CPU. Thanks for the tip on the samsung galaxy tab. |

Even with the low resolution, low ram, and being stuck on 2.3(for official OS),
For $80 bucks you get a Tegra2, its still a decent processor for the price. Kinda wish I woulda waited and bought this instead of the Chinese 4.0 A13 tablet for $70... but better(?) deals always come up AFTER I spend my money... |

I tested browsers on www.speed-battle.com and here are the results. I ran the test 10 times for each browser and list the average and max. Higher score is better:
Browser Average Max Firefox 15.0.1 37.12 42.06 Opera Mobile 12.0.4 23.57 26.55 Dolphin Browser Mini 19.05 21.21 Boat Browser Mini 3.8.1 17.02 19.41 Boat Browser 4.3 16.51 20.35 Opera Mini 7.0.3 15.96 18.27 Skyfire 4.0 15.92 21.24 Stock 4.0.3 15.55 20.98 Maxthon MM 2.7.2 build 2830 14.85 19.25 Dolphin Browser 8.8.1 14.30 18.97 Chrome M18.1 10.99 13.49 |

I've tested browsers with Peacekeeper before .. the test goes on for about 5 minutes, and has a dozen phases. Seems far more through .. their results are far different (with laptops) than speed-battle. On the downside, peacekeeper refuses to run on this tablet for all browsers, so proper comparisons can't be made. Your results are better than nothing, and thank you for the effort!! |

I have a question. I bought two tablets in July and they came with 4.0.3 and just two weeks ago I bought two more and they came with 4.0.4 and run smoother and have newer features... Is there a way to pull the system off the newer pads and flash them to the previous tabs from july? thanks for the help.

Also of note, McBub's, even for as cheap as this pad is, is actually selling it as a different model than it is. The model they are selling uses a touch panel that many developers won't even bother with because it's such a pain to work with. ![]() There is a way to get Clockwork Recovery on the device, but without custom roms or kernels, there isn't a lot of reason to bother. On top of that, it being a risky process. Before you do ANYTHING: Some other things that I've learned. Once you get the Pad, do a factory reset. Right off the bat. IT's weird, but it seems to smooth out performance from then on out. Rooting:IT comes pre-rooted and the CPU is over/underclockable right out of the gate. mine can't do 1.2ghz (which it is advertised as, but mine came clocked at 1ghz.) after a few hours it will lock and reset. Also, the default governor "Fantasy" seems to lock the CPU at it's max speed more than anything else, and for me, drains the battery more than neccessary. Download System Tuner, Root Tool kit or something else that has the ability to OC the CPU and change the governor to interactive or ondemand. Interactive seems the best for me, but your mileage may vary. Battery: The default battery life on this is pretty much laughable. at a full charge, 10min of constant use (facebook or webbrowing or just navigating around.) drops the full charge to about 90%. Using different battery apps it showed that it was only a 1050mAH capacity. I decided to take the tablet apart, which is hilariously easy and only required my thumb nail (and I chew my nails, this should further show how easy it is to pop open.) and the battery looked to be smaller than my Smartphones battery. I ordered this battery for it: http://www.ownta.com/original-ain...ement.htm App Issues: Google Music hasissues playing music. it will buffer, stop and say the Music is Temporarily Unavailable. But, if I hit stop before it gave me that error, I could see it load the song, then if I hit play it would play fine. once the song was done and it went to the next, it did the same thing "Stream unavailable" unless I tricked it again. effectively makes it useless, unless you have the music on the SDCard. Then it will play fine. Netflix also no longer works for me, it use to, but with a recent mandatory update it opens and closes immediately, dumping back into the launcher or app drawer. HuluPlus says the device is unsupported, a modded version did use to work, but again. a recent server side update broke it. What's funny is the ads play perfectly fine, but the instant it tries to load the show, you'll get "Buffering" endlessly. i7 860-OC'd to 4ghz || 8GB RAM || 2x600GB HDD Raid-0, 650GB backup drive, 750GB USB 3.0 drive, 250GB NAS, 120GB Backup of that drive || Crossfire Radeon 5870 || 3x 22-inch LCD's individually mounted to Wall. and 1 half eaten sandwiche from 2 months ago.. I think.. maybe longer.. actually, I think I just saw it move. Someone call a lab!.. or pet control or something!!

There is a site, I think it's something like APKTOP that had older versions of the netflix app. I ended up giving the mcbub to my daughter and got the polaroid from biglots over the summer. A netflix update got me too. I use the 1.7.0 version on the polaroid which is more or less the same hardware as the mcbub. Hope that helps. My daughter is happy with hers. She mostly uses youtube, skype and netflix. No complaints so far. Being Dyslexic is the ULTIMATE Slick Deal! If you read a book twice, you get two different stories!
