SSD Installed - Good speed?
I'm new to the SSD world. Picked up a Plextor M3 256gb drive last week. I have attached a screenshot of the speeds from the drive, as reported by AS SSD Benchmark. Are they in the ball park of what they should be? I wanted to make sure there is not a setting in the bios or Windows that I missed, which would make the SSD faster. My setup: - Original i7 930 oc'ed to 3.8 ghz - EVGA X58 SLI MB. AHCI enabled on all SATA channels in the BIOS. - 12 GB of RAM - Win 7 x64 Thanks. |

"msachi" from the screenshot is MS built-in ahci driver. You might be able to get better speed by updating the ahci driver (storage driver from the motherboard website) and the SSD firmware (if there is a update).
The motherboard only has SATA 3Gbps ports so it won't show any speed close to SATA 6Gbps (ex. 500MB/s) speed. |

This is my test. I have all SATA2.

OP, the big speed jump/performance jump from standard hard drive to SSD isn't in sequential read/writes, it's all from random read/writes.
