OFFER STILL ALIVE AS OF 09/09/12

to meet first purchase requirement one option is to buy amazon gift cert of $0.15

Offer only showing up for 40K?
Make sure you are logged into your United account. To be eligible for the up to 65K offer you must have some miles in your united account. If you don't, you can easily use the MileageStore or whatever it's called and make a purchase through a store like target and earn some miles. I applied with only like 50 miles and got accepted.

65K AND $50 STATEMENT CREDIT OFFER
If you can get the 65K offer to show up you *should* be able to get this offer to show up as well. Offers a $50 statement credit on first purchase.
https://www.theexplorercard.com/M...AFWIC.aspx

"Enjoy a $50 statement credit after you use your MileagePlus Explorer Card for the first time. This introductory $50 credit is not tied to this United reservation and will be applied to your statement 6-8 weeks after first use of the Card."

I had this card about a couple years ago and cancelled before the annual fee was due. Does anyone know if I can apply again and get the miles?
Yes, you are qualified for this offer. I did the same.

Soon after, around the time of the following statement. It's 55k by the way, since the next 10k comes after $25k in purchases (which isn't worth it; better ways to spend $25k than that for merely 10k miles).

Do we get 2 free checked in Bags on international flights using Explorer or just one? Because first check-in bag is already free
Good question. My gut feeling is "no":

http://www.united.com/web/en-US/c...03B791CFB4

It's not explicitly mentioned, so International flights don't get any checked bag benefit with the Explorer card.

The offer did not pop up for me when I typed in my Mileage Plus number. I have a different mileage plus card already, so that must disqualify me.

For real? Try reading the thread. I assume your question is.......is chase still matching the 25k bonus and the $50 statement credit. That 25k+25k+ 5k (55k)

Here's the drill when i applied.
Apply for card
Email in "secure thingy" to get the bonus enriched to the 50k and the $50 signup bonus that united had a couple months back. I think united will match it up to 90 days from when that promo ended.
After you get your first statement. You need to call them to remind them to credit your extra 25K and $50 statement credit.

Most (if not all) of us didn't need to do that.

I'm waiting for the deal back and hoping it'll be back soon. BTW, do I need to get an united account before I apply for the card?
