[*]10,000 bonus miles every calendar year you spend at least $25,000 on your card.
.
BTW if you plan on getting the 10K for $25,000 spent. Calendar year is Jan1 to Dec 31. so spend quickly....

I also spoke to a rep about what happens to miles if you cancel the card...She stated that once the miles are added to your United account they are yours forever. The only miles that you would loose is for miles on your current bill if you canceled your card. The reason I asked is that I have a Chase Onepass card that I have had since 1992. I have over 250k miles in my onepass/united account and I plan on cancelling my card once this one is activated.

This was a sweet deal for me since Chase was going to replace my onepass cc with a explorer card in November. I just got my 55000 miles..Now I have over 300k miles...time to take some more trips.

Just a quick thing - United miles DO expire. They expire 18 months after the last activity on your account. Activity counts as flying, credit card spending, car rentals that are associated with your United account and a couple of other things. If you have the card, those miles effectively do not expire. But if you cancel your card, make sure you have some activity on your account within 18 months so you do not lose the miles. Here is the website that discusses that.

When I signed in my acct, I saw the offer as below:
50,000 Bonus Miles:
With this bonus offer you will qualify and receive 50,000 bonus miles after you make purchases totaling $1,000 or more during the first 3 months from account opening.

Do I have to spend $1k for the 50k bonus? Or anyone know if I'm still qualified for 50K bonus after first purchasing?

you have to spend $1000 within first 103 days of opening your account to qualify for 50k points

not first purchase

Send a Secure message to customer service and ask for a $50 credit as the latest offer gives you that. Usually they are very good about it and give the credit.

But $50 credit is first purchase? I got it in 7 days when I used the card. But $1000 in 3 months for 50k miles?

what are the chances of them crediting you the annual fee for the 2nd year if you call in to cancel your card because you don't want to pay the fee?

I called to cancel my BA visa signature from chase about a month before the annual fee was going to come up and they offered to credit me the $95 to remain a cardmember. Not sure if it is because I put about 10 grand on the card in the past year or if they do it for everyone.
