What's the best File Search Software for Windows?

If you give the valid file name and its extension, I think you can have your files in your front screen while using built-in search menu of Window. Anyhow, try to give relevant keywords on Google search bar for locating the any free software.

Try this, otherwise we'll find any other to the point stuff for minimizing our search time in accessing file.

I don't know if there's any better or which which is preferred.

everything is free and can be found on any of the freeware sites like filehippo,etc.
i have had installed it on every machine for years. It is a very small file, you can put it in your taskbar and it finds everything! you can configure it to search multiple hard drives including networked , and it returns results as you type in each letter. Most times i don't finish spelling the name and have already found the executable. plus it will show all the other associated files as long as it has the name in its title.its very fast, win 7 search i have tried toi use and it is just plain garbage, not even worth my time, since everything works and you can open multiple instances. I would like to find a good document searcher for specific words, I may have forgotten the name of the program the file is in, but it would be a doc type file and want to ne able to put in keywords that will have the docs pop up. i have hard drives from years ago, i never trust that i have all the info that i may need in the future, so at the sacrifice of a magnet i save them all. There are a couple of letters i had written over 15 years ago to my co-op board i would like to find quickly. i am not sure which hard drives there in but i know a couple of keywords would narrow it down to the doc, which i am almost sure was a Microsoft .doc

i second everything , i had tried a few but i like everything the best, its really fast for example lets say your looking for a picture, You simply Typed in .jpg in a matter of seconds it will pull up all your .jpg files, sames goes to any other extension. I picked the Portable so i can carry in a usb and no install

A third thumbs up from me for everything. Its almost instantaneous because it uses the native file system index. The downside is that you cant search within files, only for file names and extensions, you also have to have Admin on your PC and your drives need to be formatted as NTFS.
