Where I live, there is some kind of non-competition agreement between providers. No Comcast where I am at (thankfully) so I went with Cox. Used to be with Century Link, but they went to complete garbage after some merge last year.

I have Time Warner and the only complaint I really have is how my upload is capped at 1mbps. I'm not going to pay more just to get more upload, it just annoys me.
Although one good thing coming for me is that Google is currently running Fiber to Kansas City KS and Mo. So I think I should have the chance to get it when they do start running connections. So depending on the price I'll be hopping on that! |

Anyone here experience throttling when streaming Netflix using Comcast internet? Reed hasting filed a complaint about that....

i'm staying in San Antonio for work right now and i have Time Warner Roadrunner and they are actually pretty reasonably priced.. $35 a month for "20 down and 1.5 up" but it does fluctuate.. atleast once a week i have to reboot the modem to get back up to my normal speeds.. and the DNS server sucks.. i had to switch to opendns.org.
i have had a few random internet outages that they say they keep blaming on the modem, but i'm on my 2nd modem and when it does drop the modem says its not even hooked up to the cable network.. even with all those problems they are still better than ATT uverse.. the company that took 9 months to finally disconnect my internet and stop billing me.. they even sent me to collections when they couldnt figure out how to shut off my internet |

I must say Time Warner is decent for me...I have the Extreme (30 x 5) and it's truly 30 x 5 stable. The DNS servers are OK for me. However it's a b*tch to argue with them about pricing...I'm paying $70/ month right now (internet only, no phone or TV) and the 'promo' rate is $50.

I have Verizon here. No Fios in my area yet, so just plain old DSL. I got it about 5 years ago at the promo price of $19.99 a month(for the slowest shitty speed they had at the time, 768kbps) and they recently jacked it up by $5 a month or so for the same crap speed. I should call them and try to negotiate for the next speed up for the same price for a year or so, but for what I use it for it's not even worth the time.
If I could, I'd just jack into an unlocked wifi signal and ditch them altogether.

. Of course I would get caught downloading a shitty Turok game and Meet the Spartans. Stopped using public trackers after that and have been using private since. But I lost my TorrentLeech account because I forgot to sign in for a period of time, which blows because that's a great tracker.SteamID - DaddioDan
