It was simple. I youtubed rooting acer iconia tablet. I basically subscribed to one of the users who has his own acer iconia youtube video. i believe i used this one

If you have any questions, he responds that day. Its awesome once you root. The ICS flexreaper rom is awesome. The steps are simple. video is 11 mins long. takes about 20 - 25 mins to root. I kept pausing to make sure i was doing things correctly.

How far have you overclocked it? I had my Toshiba Thrive up to 1.47 GHz before I sold it.

I had this and sold it a month ago. and just got my Asus transformer TF101 from that cowboom deal last week.

For anyone insteasted in a real world comparison
at similiar price point for the TF101 and A500 I would go with the Asus TF101


ASUS wins at:
- Screen (they both have same resolution) more vibrant color and seems to better viewing angle. it also have gorrilla glass. and don't have that "touch matrix" dots all over (though the touch matrix is not visible when it's in use). Asus 10 point touch sensor vs I think 4 point on Acer. for anyone that is picky
- ICS. just seems smoother usage overall than my A500 on Honey comb (I know it's an unfair comparison but thats whats avaible).
- Games runs smoother 3D and regular 2D games. I don't know if it's the underlying hardware or because its ICS compared to the A500 Honeycomb.
- lighter and thinner and looks better.
- camera seems to be better quality pictures


ACER wins at:
- standard 3.5mm headphone jack. (Asus u suck for using the 2.5mm hole)
- standard hdmi size
- standard fullsize USB port with host capability.
- have vibrating function.

Could you install ICS on the A500? I think that would be a better comparison if both have the same version.

ACER gave A500 a official ICS release in April. Just hit search for update in the settings. If that does not work, there is an app in the google play store from ACER that will update you to ICS. ICS is very smooth with NO Lag on the A500. Ive had almost every custom rom on one of my A500s and the stock ICS update has been the best. AND yes, it does have gorilla glass!

The ASUS Transformer has a little lag when you 1st start playing movies in ICS, and it freezes once in awhile.

And the Toshiba is great for movies, though the speakers are not that loud and NO ICS as of today

If I have a folio case for a tablet with Gorilla glass, do you need a screen protector? Also, is there any downside if using a screen protector (like poorer touch response or less accurate)?
