http://www.ctshirts.com/Formal-sh...ing-guides note the classic, slim and tailored fits |

So material and construction eh? Is 100% cotton the best? Is it better than a cotton/polyester mix? What makes this material better than others? Which country produces the highest quality shirts? What are the deciding factors? What makes a shirt produced in Indonesia better than one produced in China? A complete sentence would be a nice way to answer any of these questions. |

I'm 5'7", 165, and tailored works well for me. I have a slim and a regular.. slim worked fairly well, and the regular felt like a blanket. (I had to get it tailored). |

Collars are THICK, ie they hold their shape...big quality point here. Compare it to a department store collar and you'll understand. Fit: tailored fit fits me like a glove. I'm 6'2" 175 and most shirts are like boxes on me. These look GOOD. Brass collar stays instead of cheapo plastic. etc... Once you own nice clothing, you get it. If you are used to 19.99 sale department store button downs, you don't know what you are missing. (Or how ridiculous you look) |

Sorry to break it to you guys, but mass produced shirts cater to the general Fat public.
Regular Fit = If you are obese Slim Fit = If you are fat Tailored Fit = If you are not fat Athletic build, slim, or have a six-pack waist = Try a different (better) brand or get the shirt tapered at a tailor. |

lol...modern men.
would our fathers be having this argument? I have bought $15 slim, 100% cotton, non-iron shirts from KOHLS (croft&barrow) and I'd say they're just as good as the CT I got with the free tie. where do you think these CT shirts are made? UK? HA! they use the same sweatshop countries any other clothier would use, same cheap cotton, same scotchguard. p.s. and that was pocket included. |
|
If people tell you these shirts are slim, they are either have some junk in the trunk or dress very sloppy (excess fabric hanging on sleeves or waist). |

p.s. and I wasn't stuck with a pocket on my shirt |

I won't go into great detail, but here goes. TL;DR version: Businesses try to make money. On cheap shirts (anything that is regularly less than $50), they must make as many as they can as cheaply as possible to make as much profit as they can. Higher quality shirts, manufacturers don't need to cut as many corners, but make a higher margin, In this case, while the "regular price" here is BS, the $35/shirt for a CT shirt is a great deal. They normally are about $50-60/shirt. As others have said, you get a level of shirt better than JAB and about the same as BB, but for less than either. Fabric There are certainly better fabrics than others. First there is the "super number" which dictates how many yards are in one pound (it is not thread count like sheets). The higher the number, typically the higher quality as they make finer thread. Quality fabric is a 2 ply means that there are two yarns woven together to make the thread, which also generally indicates a better shirt. Construction Single needle tailoring is better than twin needling, because with a twin needle construction, seams are made in one pass of the sewing machine with two needles running in parallel. Typically this results in low quality, quickly made shirts that are more prone to falling apart. This also leads to more "puckering" along the seams. On higher end shirts, buttons will be sewn by hand because they will hold better and generally can be made to look nicer. Additionally, curved seams like the armhole are sewn by hand, because to get a consistent quality curved seam with a sewing machine is very difficult. Other caveats Higher quality shirts have little details that also improved their quality. Things like reinforced gussets (the bottom where the two sides meet). They sometimes (most often in very high quality shirts) have mother of pearl buttons rather than plastic buttons. They also have better shaped and made collars (with higher quality inner-lining materials in the collar). Also patterns that the shirts are made to, are generally better because they can be made to more accurately reflect the human body (and often have different fits) rather than a pattern to use the least amount of fabric as possible.
