What makes you say that the shipping is free?

When you go to purchase the item there is no shipping charge, but it gives the impression that shipping will be calculated after the order is placed, and then charged.

Because you are asking this question I would guess you are a new shooter. Get the 9mm. With the right ammo it is a great self defense choice but more important is that ammo is cheaper. As a new shooter you will need to practice, practice, practice to gain confidence and proficiency. The lower recoil of the 9mm will be a benefit as you master the firearm. Typically 9mm versions carry more ammo than 40s&w. This is a no brainer.

Seconded. I still remember a conversation I had with a police officer about the 40 cal ammo not going through a pitbull's skull... Haven't considered a 40 since then, though presumably in the 10+ yrs, they now pack the 40s with more powder, but really a 9mm will kick less and provides cheaper ammo between those two plusses, I don't see why people carry 40s. Though really, I've not carried a gun in quite awhile so perhaps I am behind the times..

Nice. Unfortunately Botach doesn't have any 10 round versions of those mags. Neither does S&W Frown

I like seeing gun deals here, but the truth is if you want a slick gun deal you need to shop the used counter. Dont even think of buying new. The local dealer here (Hoffmans, Newington CT) was selling police turn in glock 22's (40S&W) - a couple were gen 3 - for $299!! Curses. He had glock 21's Gen3 for $399 So you get the glock 22 and have $170 to buy ammo or $100 night sights and still have $70 for ammo. The one I was looking at had some holster wear, but honestly - so what?

Actually, buying the .40 is a better option because if you know the M&P .40, then you know you can switch out the barrel and magazine with .9mm barrel and magazines and essentially have 2 guns for the price of one. worship If you search the net for 'M&P40 to 9mm conversion' you'll find tons of examples, videos, etc all showing there is no issue with this. A new barrel from Midway USA is around $60-70 and magazines aren't that much either (can't remember where I got mine but they were like $20/ea).

The conversion does not work in reverse - meaning you can't buy a 9mm and convert to a 40, but you can convert the 40 to a 9mm. So ... get the 40, spend $100 on a 9mm barrel and a few magazines and you have 2 guns for just a bit more than the price of just the 40. Then shoot whatever you chose to shoot that day. Cool

Hope that helps...

Fixed that for you. A 40mm would require a class 3 FFL.
I'd get the 9mm. Cheaper to shoot, so you'll practice more. Get the right HD rounds for if you carry or if you keep it loaded at home for "just in case".

Well being that I live in good ol' California I can't purchase this model which I would have loved to cuz it's a great deal. I only posted to share with others.

I just saw the "Free Standard Shipping" at the top of the product page, but didn't really go through the whole checkout process.
