I hate crap statistics like this...doesn't help the argument. If "it's the worst economy since WW2," why doesn't the graph address that. And the graph doesn't even say what it's charting. And the text refers to Clinton in '92, but the graph doesn't go back that far either.

Just graduated in May, and I'm in the same boat - it sucks.

My biggest suggestion to you is to throw your resume out the window. Seriously ditch it, obviously its terrible and your not marketing yourself well. Take a class on resume building, cover letter writing, and interview taking. Your marketing yourself on the resume, you can make a previous job at mcdonalds look as important relevant experience to your future company if you do it right.

It's both:

1. Just because you made it through college doesn't mean anyone owes you anything. My wife's best friend's brother just graduated with top honors or something like that....magna cum something.....and he got a job at a great company. They had him on a career path to be management in five years making tons of money (over 100k). They recruited him, and they really wanted him, but when he found out he would be starting at 50k he declined the job even though in 5 years he would likely be making over 100k. Now all he does is sit around and bitch that no one will hire him and pay him for what he's worth. The little shit is 22 for crying out loud!

$175 /hr consulting fees. Minimum of 10 hours paid up front.

No seriously, I took one of these classes at my school and it was the most beneficial course I ever took. I landed a great job weeks before I had even graduated and I honestly attribute it to my resume + interviewing skills I learned in the class.

I do believe resume is a big thing, that's why I tweak it from time to time when I get any new inspirations. But I wouldn't take a class for it, unless the class is taught by top MBA students of recent years who just landed a good job.
