I use to have the 2 year for $300 at Costco but considering that I bought it 2010, the price probably increases per year.
Further, when my membership ended after the 2 years, I switched over to Planet Fitness (meh) but I like the perks of it because I pay $20 (maximum) which includes tanning, massage chairs and 50% all beverages (~$1.50 or less, in Bay Area, California).
But honestly, I like 24 hour fitness, just not their prices for "Super Sport" and "Ultra Sport", what's so special about them? a indoor Basketball court?
I want to know why this is such a good deal. People on here hate postpaid phone contracts and even TV/cable contracts, but will happily spend $600 to save $7-12 a month on their gym fees?
Seems like it'd be easy enough to haggle at the actual gym around the $33 all club membership, in a city like Houston with only 2 super sport clubs but dozens of sport and active clubs, it would make more sense considering you aren't on contract.
It makes little to no sense. Paying upfront for a gym membership? Unless you are a hardcore athlete the Super Sport is pretty much overkill. I would know because I have a membership there and spend quite a bit of time in the gym.
More than half the people that buy this won't even go to the gym for years at a time. Costco/24HR know what's up and that is how they make $$$$
I drove several hours to Costco and grabbed an extra one. Message me if you'd like it, I'll give it to you for the $599.99 I paid plus $50 for my gas/time. It's a small certificate so we can meet up in the SF Bay Area (San Jose or SF) or I can mail it to anyone nationwide.
1st, the this may or may not be a good deal depending on where you are and which clubs you are going to. In my area, there are NO SS, but lots of Sports and Elites (the small ones)
2nd, I highly, highly recommend you check out the club(s) you plan to use BEFORE you purchase. I travel a lot and been to 24Hour Fitness all over the country. They vary greatly from location to location. Both in how clean, how maintained and how busy. In fact, before dropping this kind of money, go on line and get a free 10 day membership. Check out the club(s) you plan to go to on different days, different times, etc.
3rd, These pre-paid memberships are the cheapest. But only if you use them. But there are other options besides just going monthly with the club. Check with your health insurance company. Mine (Blue Cross/Blue Shield) offers a very good deal for joining multiple clubs.
4th, overall I LOVE 24Hour Fitness. About 5-6 years ago (pre-Costco deals) I got a 3 yr pre-paid for $600 for all clubs SS and below (no Ultra) w/$100 annual renewals. I have by far gotten my money out of it. I've also gotten the SS deals from Costco for my daughter (twice) and my dad.
5th, lastly....regardless of club, deal, etc....it is really all about YOU. No deal is going to workout for you. And there are a lot of new options out there. Not only low price clubs, but also stuff you can do at home with little or no equipment.
Costco has a 2 Year All-Club Super-Sport deal for $599.99 ($25 dollars a month) YMMV. I know most members are paying about $40-45 locally in Sacramento. I found it at the Arden Costco in Sac. Hope this helps anyone that has been looking for a deal!
