Eh, with Gigabit kits selling for 55 shipped this isn't that hot, 200mb/s really isn't that great.

Can you remind me why 200Mb/s isn't that great? I used to have 75Mb/s PoE and they definitely choke when I do HD streaming, but now w/ 200Mb/s I can do it without a hitch. Based on WD utility, I get anywhere from 145Mbps to 175Mbps.

What gigabit kit are you referencing for $55 ?

From what I see, the 500mbps ethernet over powerline kits are somewhere around $129

The ports on these things are 100mbit so that's the most you'll see at each point, and I wouldn't trust the gimmicky utility at all. Even still, the best you could actually hope for is 65mbit or so. With that said, 65mbit is still more than enough for any bitrate HD content.

I had a pair of Netgear 200mbit adapters and I only got 11-15mbit speeds. This wasn't enough for the HD content we watch so I moved to a COAX adapter set and now see around 70mbit transfer speeds when streaming.

Ability to stream HD will depend on the quality/distance of the electrical outlet connection. I have a network of four Netgear 500Mb/s units and the signal ranges from 120-130 and 75 ish. The 75 ish is actually closer distance wise than the higher ones, but must make a worse connection through the electrical junction box. I can stream full, uncompressed HD TV signal with no problems (I've measured it needing ~30-35Mb/s).

So, the bottomline is that the throughput you get using these will depend on the relationship of your specific electrical outlets. I think that 200 Mb/s would've been cutting it too close for me.
