Hmmm I have a hard time believing that you just got almost 30% off a new car. What was the money factor, what is the residual value?

I just got a 1981 Ford pinto for about 2 bucks a month. Does not run but it does look great.

ahh, i see. I was searching "lease" and looking in the hot deals forum so missed it.

anyway, I haven't seen how the numbers work out yet in terms of residual value or money factor. residual value is published and non negotiable. haven't had too much success negotiating money factor either but selling price for sure.

though I don't have the detailed numbers yet, as I see it, it's a great price for essentially a 29,000 car I should have no business driving. for comparison, the best I could do when I was in the market for a hyundai is 2013 sonata SE base (MSRP ~23k) for 275/month all inclusive with 0 down, 36 month lease. I think that is because while hyundai's are considered great values in general, dealers are not as willing to negotiate given how fast they are selling.

I don't have scanner to show the signed agreement I have for the buick but once the car comes in and i've signed, will post the exact numbers. the guy wouldn't throw in splash guards ($180) because he said the pricing on the car was already so aggressive. did promise to give them at his dealer cost.

again, if you think he is scamming me somewhere I would like to hear it before officially signing but seems like a good deal to me. comes out to 86$/month per 10,000k value of the car (taken from how to figure you have a good lease deal: http://www.realcartips.com/leasin...deal.shtml)

You don't need a scanner just give the numbers on the signed agreement. I don't know for certain if he is scamming you but it just sounds fishy to me.

Not true he would have the option to buy the residual value of the car. Let's assume the residual value is $12K. It basically means he spent $1000 to pay down the car to the residual value (which would be his cost of financing).

This drives me crazy that people who don't like leases automatically use the argument that "YOU DON'T GET ANYTHING" at the end of your lease.

Leasing= unslick.

annoying as hell when people devolve these threads into the merits of leasing vs. buying. let's not go into that. please stick to the topic of this thread and compare apples to apples. it is a slick deal when comparing lease offers alone, and not comparing them to something different (purchasing).

the residual value assumption posted by pirates is not unfounded as it assumes about 40% residual which is close to what buick is running right now. 29,420 x 0.4 = 11,768. at the end of my lease, I will have paid ~10,000. hell if I get a residual value that comes around 12,000, that means to own the car, i will have paid 10,000 + 12,000 = 22,000. not bad for a 29,000 car.
